Role Summary
Magna Health Centre (MHC) is a multidisciplinary health clinic that services Magna Employees and individuals in the community. MHC offers family medicine, occupational health services, massage therapy, and chiropractic care.
Key Responsibilities
Family Medicine

  • Examine patients and take their histories
  • Access and treat illnesses ranging from minor to life-threatening
  • Provide acute care management
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
  • Order laboratory tests and other diagnostic testing such as x-ray, ultrasound, CT/MRI, cardiac tests
  • Consult with and refer to other health care workers, including specialists, to evaluate patients' physical and mental health
  • Refer patients to community-based resources, such as peer and group support and home care services
  • Vaccinate patients as per the Public Health vaccination schedule and Travel guidelines
  • Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
  • Screen for health risks and talk to patients about preventing health problems and preventive care screening


Occupational Medicine

  • Communicate with community health care providers respecting absence management, disability management and accommodation matters
  • Support Occupation Health & Safety (OHS) to evaluate and implement accommodation requests
  • Support the company's health promotion and education program
  • Work with OHS to implement policies and ensure health and safety compliance
  • Examine employees and obtain their relevant histories, order tests and consult with other medical practitioners to prevent occupational disease, workplace injury and determine fitness to work
  • Perform occupational health screening such as forklift medicals


Key Qualifications/Requirements
Knowledge and Education

  • Licensed family physician in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • Preference given to members of the Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine at the ACBOM or CCBOM level.


Work Experience

  • 2-3 years' experience as a family physician
  • 1-2 years' experience in occupational medicine


Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to examine patients and treat, diagnose, refer and prescribe medication as required
  • Ability to review medical notes for accommodation and determine employee's disability-based need for accommodation based on the information provided


Work Environment

  • Standard work environment
  • Minimal travel
