The objective of this assignment is to ensure the successful production and delivery of high-quality Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) from a strategic supplier. The selected consultant will work onsite at the supplier's manufacturing facility to monitor production activities, oversee quality compliance, identify manufacturing risks, and coordinate with supplier and customer stakeholders to ensure products are delivered on time and meet all technical and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Production Surveillance

  • Monitor production planning and execution against agreed schedules and priorities.
  • Track manufacturing progress and identify production constraints, material shortages, and capacity risks.
  • Follow up on recovery plans and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Escalate issues that could impact production schedules or customer deliveries.

Quality Surveillance

  • Monitor incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities.
  • Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, approved manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
  • Ensure effective management of non-conforming products, rework activities, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor containment actions and verify implementation of permanent corrective actions.

Supplier Performance Management

  • Conduct regular operational reviews with supplier management.
  • Monitor supplier production, delivery, and quality performance.
  • Identify operational risks and drive mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve technical and operational issues.

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare weekly status reports covering production progress, delivery performance, quality concerns, risks, and action plans.
  • Maintain an open action tracker and quality issue log.
  • Immediately communicate any issue that could impact product quality, production continuity, or delivery commitments.
  • Provide recommendations to improve supplier manufacturing performance and establish sustainable process control.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in PCB/PCBA manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of PCB/PCBA manufacturing processes and electronics production.
  • Experience in supplier development, supplier quality engineering, manufacturing surveillance, or industrial performance improvement.
  • Working knowledge of IPC standards and AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why Analysis, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Fishbone, etc.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently at the supplier's manufacturing facility while effectively collaborating with supplier leadership and customer teams.
Deliverables

The consultant will be expected to provide:

  • Weekly production and quality status reports.
  • Open action tracker.
  • Risk assessment and recovery plan follow-up.
  • Quality issue log.
  • Recommendations for continuous improvement of supplier manufacturing and quality performance.
Success Criteria

The engagement will be considered successful based on:

  • Stable production execution aligned with agreed schedules.
  • On-time delivery of required quantities.
  • Delivery of PCBAs meeting all technical, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
  • Effective management and timely closure of production and quality issues.
  • Sustainable improvements in supplier manufacturing performance and process control.
