Job Description

IKO Industries Ltd. is a worldwide leader in the roofing, waterproofing, and insulation industry for residential and commercial markets.  A vertically integrated company, IKO operates more than 30 manufacturing plants throughout North America and Europe.  IKO is a family-owned business established in 1951. The Brampton facility is a shingle manufacturing operation.

IKO is looking for an Industrial Millwright to join the Brampton team! Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role will maintain production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Work Schedule: Straight Days, 8-Hour shifts with opportunities to work overtime.

Compensation: Starting rate is at $44.72/Hour

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on pump, gearboxes, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other production machineries.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.
  • Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.
  • Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
  • Assist with planning and closing the loop on work orders in Maximo
  • Record parts and materials used, and order or create requisition for new parts and materials as necessary. Record repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Have a valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic License 433A (Red Seal Certificate of Qualifications)
  • Have full set of metric standard tools.
  • Exposure with mechanical devices, pneumatic controls and welding/cutting.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to read mechanical drawings.
  • From time to time, may work shifts as well as some extended hours and weekends.
  • Have interpersonal, problem solving & trouble shooting skills.
  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basis.
  • Able to walk and/or stand 70-90% of the shift
  • Able to work at heights and in confined space
