The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager serves as a crucial business partner to the brand marketing team, providing financial guidance on business cycle forecasting, annual planning, innovation strategy, and portfolio optimization. This role includes corporate reporting, acting as the lead for financial systems, and providing support to the Director of Finance & Senior Manager, Brand Finance during monthly financial projections, annual budgeting, and special projects.

Business Management: Forecasting

  • Support the Senior Manager, Brand Finance in the preparation, analysis, and communication of monthly forecasting and reporting processes.
  • Drive business results and facilitate decision-making through participation in monthly Integrated Business Planning processes, offering guidance and analyses to pressure test assumptions.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional category teams, providing financial counsel and support to achieve monthly and annual financial targets, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Inform stakeholders on business results, sharing earnings variance analyses to explain drivers of business changes, through financial reviews.
  • Provide decision support to cross-functional category teams by preparing ad-hoc financial analyses as needed, such as product margin analysis and promo effectiveness.

    Corporate Reporting

  • Build Profit & Loss (P&L) statements in a financial reporting system for both monthly forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Review and adjust financial results based on risks and opportunities through collaboration with Director of Finance.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages including summarized financial results, risks and opportunities, Earnings Variance Analysis (EVA) drivers, and business commentary for communication to business users and corporate divisions.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reporting to support corporate requests.

    Innovation Strategy & Portfolio Optimization

  • Collaborate with marketing & sales teams in developing new product innovation through guidance on profitability, pricing, and customer/consumer value propositions; review financial assumptions and have responsibility for final profit and loss statement results.
  • Participate in weekly innovation steering meetings discussing timelines, up

    dates, and risks to projects.

  • Develop & maintain financial models necessary to advise on innovation strategies and key assumptions; lead innovation reviews to measure actual results against success criteria and financial estimates.
  • Responsible for data governance by building and maintaining product master data inputs including list pricing & product hierarchies.
  • Engage in portfolio optimization initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance product mix, review assortment, and maximize overall profitability.
  • Lead margin improvement projects by analyzing product profitability, identifying inefficiencies, and optimizing margins while delivering on financial targets.

    Business Management: Strategic Planning and Budgeting

  • Lead annual financial situation assessment to inform business partners on critical internal & external business factors impacting profitability.
  • Partner with brand marketing team to develop multi-year strategic plans in support of brand strategies, including development of financial building blocks to meet growth targets.
  • Support Canadian leadership in developing financial guidance on multi-year strategic plans; develop reporting to share plans with Canadian and corporate stakeholders.
  • Develop & build annual financial budgets based on strategic plan business drivers, partner with key Finance, Marketing, Sales teams to evaluate assumptions and ensure plans meeting financial targets and commitments.
  • Support Senior Manager, Brand Finance in developing reporting materials and commentary for leadership presentations and corporate requirements.
  • Financial Leadership

  • Drive a culture of financial acumen and accountability by promoting a deeper understanding of financial implications.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, driving efficiencies in financial systems, processes, and ways of working to enhance effectiveness and productivity.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering their professional growth and ensuring a strong pipeline of talent within the finance function.
