Marmon Industrial Water (MIW) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to join our Mechanical Engineering & Design team. This role is a 12-month contact role and would be ideal for a designer with excellent SolidWorks experience who is passionate about mechanical design and eager to continue developing their technical skills in a collaborative engineering environment.
The main focus of this role will be supporting the development, standardization and maintenance of MIW’s SolidWorks routing library while working closely with other Mechanical Designers, Engineers and operations. The successful candidate will contribute to design automation initiatives, drawing creation, configuration management, and continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

The list below highlights the essential job responsibilities but is not exhaustive.

  • Develop, build, and maintain a comprehensive SolidWorks routing library of standard piping components, including ASME-standard fittings, flanges, valves, and other commonly used piping components.
  • Create and manage SolidWorks parts, assemblies, configurations, routing components, and design library content in accordance with established company standards.
  • Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering records, models, drawings, and other technical documentation.
  • Work closely with the Design and Mechanical Engineering teams to support ongoing projects and incorporate project lessons learned into standard designs and library content.
  • Participate in design reviews and assist with identifying opportunities to improve design processes, standardization, and overall drafting efficiency.
  • Support the development and implementation of design standards, work instructions, and other tools that improve the quality and efficiency of the design team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related discipline.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience using SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering drawings, and dimensions.
  • Experience creating and modifying parts, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization and document management skills.
  • Willingness to learn and have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience developing or maintaining CAD libraries, standardized components, templates, or design automation tools is considered an asset.

Additional Information

  • Hybrid Policy in effect – requires 3 days in office per week

  • Physical demands may vary and could include extended periods of sitting, standing, and occasional lifting of objects.

This is a contract position expected to last 12 months. The typical salary range for this position is 70,000 – 80,000 annually. This range reflects the Company’s current expectations for this role based on market data, internal equity, and role responsibilities. Individual offers are determined based on job-related factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications.
