The Opportunity
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Supervisor to lead our Mechanical Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of innovative, custom-designed process equipment that makes a real impact across global industries. You will oversee the mechanical design process, ensure technical excellence, and guide a team of talented engineers and designers in delivering solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Mechanical Design team, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
  • Oversee the design, layout, and detailing of custom process equipment and systems.
  • Ensure projects meet engineering standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Manufacturing to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and practices.
  • Mentor and develop team members, supporting their professional growth.
  • Interface regularly with cross-functional teams and report to the Engineering Discipline Manager.
  • Manage project schedules, resources, and budgets related to mechanical design.
  • Drive design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering initiatives

Qualifications

  •  8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design, with at least 3 years in a leadership/managerial role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology).
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience in water treatment or heavy industrial equipment is an asset
  • Strong experience in designing and modelling/drafting process equipment and piping systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the proven ability to collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing demands, and meet deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of piping codes and standards, including ASME, ANSI, AWWA, etc.
  • Problem solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail are critical.
  • Preferred:

    Experience with water treatment equipment design & drafting.

    Familiarity with B31.3 and/or B31.1 piping codes.

    Experience in structural steel design and drafting.

    Experience with SMAP3D in SolidWorks

    Ability to review engineering documents and specifications, identify critical or unusual requirements, and integrate them into the design.

    Capable of working independently, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.

Additional Information

  • This role may require up to 10% travel within North America
  • Physical demands may vary and could include extended periods of standing and occasional bending or lifting of objects.
