Job Responsibilities:
Role Summary
The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material supply to support a just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing environment. This role focuses on maintaining optimal inventory levels, ensuring on-time delivery of components, and minimizing total supply chain costs, including freight and obsolescence.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage material planning and inventory control within SAP, while leveraging PLM systems to support product lifecycle and material supply processes.
  • Maintain ERP system data integrity by ensuring planning parameters and master data are accurate and up to date, including safety stock levels, lead times, and demand forecasts to achieve inventory targets, etc.
  • Generate and communicate precise production and service material releases to suppliers.
  • Monitor material availability, supplier delivery performance, and shipment schedules to ensure timely supply to production lines.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve material shortages, delivery delays, and inventory discrepancies through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with logistics providers, carriers, and customs brokers to resolve supply chain disruptions and expedite critical shipments when required.
  • Collaborate with production, scheduling, and third-party warehouse teams to ensure efficient material flow and adherence to processes.
  • Act as a key interface between Purchasing, Engineering (Design and Manufacturing), Production, and suppliers to resolve supply-related issues.
  • Support product phase-in and phase-out activities to minimize excess inventory and avoid obsolescence.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow, inventory optimization, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Maintain and support internal and external pull systems (e.g., Kanban, JIT replenishment).

Key Qualifications/Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering or a related field, or College Diploma

Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in materials planning, supply chain, or logistics within a manufacturing environment
  • APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP, or CLTD) is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks and implement effective solutions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required; advanced skills preferred)
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred) and PLM systems
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is an asset
  • Experience working with both domestic and international suppliers is preferred
  • Background in automotive and/or electronics manufacturing is an asset

The salary range for this position is $69,506 - $75,730 based on experience.
