Position summary
Huron Canada is looking for a Manufacturing Lead to bring deep manufacturing operations business acumen to Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management implementations, with a strong preference for automotive industry background. This is a Lead role, not a Solution Architect role: the primary mandate is to understand a client's shop floor and production operations, discrete, process, or lean manufacturing, deeply enough to shape business process design and hold plant and operations stakeholders through it, working side by side with the solution architecture and technical teams who own the underlying system build. The Lead directs how AI-enabled tools, including Copilot and other Dynamics 365 AI-assisted capabilities, are used in workshops, requirements capture, and testing to increase the speed and quality of the implementation. This is an on-site role based in the Toronto, Ontario area and requires Canadian citizenship.

Manufacturing Lead, Microsoft Dynamics 365 | Manufacturing and Automotive

Toronto, Ontario area. On client site, with travel as the engagement requires

Key responsibilities

Business process leadership

  • Process ownership. Lead client business process reviews across production planning, shop floor execution, bill of materials and routing, and quality management, assessing current-state maturity and shaping future-state design.

  • Requirements ownership. Own functional requirements definition for the manufacturing workstream, translating shop floor and production requirements into a solution design that the architecture and technical teams configure and build.

  • Design facilitation. Facilitate and document design sessions with plant managers, production supervisors, and manufacturing subject matter experts to confirm requirements are met and understood.

  • Cross-functional alignment. Understand the cross-functional effect of manufacturing decisions on supply chain and financial performance, and coordinate with the Supply Chain and Finance Leads accordingly.

AI-enabled delivery acceleration

  • AI-enabled acceleration. Direct the use of AI-enabled tools, Copilot, and Dynamics 365 AI-assisted capabilities in discovery, requirements capture, test scripting, and user enablement to compress timelines without sacrificing quality.

  • AI-informed design. Identify where AI-driven production planning, quality prediction, or process optimization features can strengthen the client's future-state manufacturing design.

Client relationship and stakeholder management

  • Relationship building. Build and sustain trusted, on-site relationships with client plant leadership, operations executives, and shop floor supervisors.

  • Client point of contact. Serve as the client's day-to-day point of contact for manufacturing questions throughout the implementation.

Team leadership and delivery quality

  • Delivery leadership. Lead and guide internal and client team members through manufacturing configuration validation, testing, training, and deployment.

  • Mentorship. Mentor consultants on manufacturing business process design and client-facing delivery discipline.

Required qualifications

  • Canadian citizenship (required for this client engagement).

  • 5-7+ years of related experience with MS D365 implementations.

  • Willingness and ability to work on-site at the client location in the Toronto, Ontario area, with travel as the engagement requires.

  • Deep business acumen in manufacturing operations: production planning, shop floor execution, and quality management, gained through industry or consulting experience.

  • A track record of leading manufacturing business process design and requirements definition on ERP implementations, in a role accountable for the business outcome rather than the technical build.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a discrete, process, or lean manufacturing environment.

  • Strong facilitation skills, with experience leading design workshops with plant leadership and production subject matter experts.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build durable client relationships.

Preferred qualifications

None of the following are required. They are bonus attributes that strengthen a candidate's ability to direct a Dynamics 365 manufacturing workstream, on top of the core business acumen qualifications above.

  • Direct, hands-on functional experience with Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management manufacturing modules (Production Control, Planning Optimization, or Advanced Warehouse Management).

  • Automotive OEM or Tier 1/2 supplier industry experience.

  • Experience with AI-driven production planning, predictive quality, or shop-floor automation tools.

  • Microsoft certifications relevant to Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management (e.g., MB-330).

  • Prior consulting experience at a systems integrator or professional services firm.

What makes you successful in this role

  • Deep business acumen. You connect shop floor and production decisions to the client's broader supply chain and financial operations, and can speak fluently with a plant manager or a VP of Operations alike.

  • Self-starter and motivator. You take ownership of the business outcome and drive requirements to closure without waiting to be asked.

  • Meticulous. You hold the details of complex manufacturing processes in view at the same time as the big picture.

  • Relationship builder. You build trust quickly with on-site client stakeholders and sustain it across the life of the engagement.
