This role is ideal for someone who naturally sees opportunities to simplify complex processes, improve assembly methods, and develop practical solutions that make manufacturing operations safer and more effective. If you're the type of engineer who can spot a better way to build a product, quickly sketch out a tooling concept, anticipate production challenges before they occur, and confidently collaborate with Production and R&D teams to implement improvements, you'll thrive in this hands-on manufacturing environment.

You will work on-site in Kitchener and report to the Leader, Operations for AMR.

  • Specify, design, build/outsource, and improve production jigs, test fixtures, and material handling carts.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate new equipment or processes.
  • Apply root cause analysis and 8-D methodologies to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing BOMs in the ERP system
  • Participate in the change management process to implement changes to existing products.
  • Support the transition of new products from R&D to Production by participating in design reviews and build reviews.
  • Supporting the implementation of established processes such as our ESD Control Program, annual tooling calibration, and preventive maintenance.
  • Assembly of tooling prototypes and hands-on testing of new production processes.
  • Performing risk assessments and participating in health & safety investigations.
  • Plan and coordinate facility layout and material flow improvements
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field.
  • The ability to travel 10% of the time.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.

  • Solid understanding of electromechanical prototyping and assembly, including experience working with electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Material (BOMs) in an ERP environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SolidWorks for the design of basic fixtures and tooling.
  • Experience using business systems such as Jira, ERP, and PLM platforms.
  • Competent in performing basic cost-benefit analysis.
  • Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA, TPM or preventive maintenance programs, ESD-sensitive products, or industrial health and safety practices is considered an asset.
  • Experience with interpreting electrical schematics and familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • EIT status, pursuit of a P.Eng designation, or a current P.Eng designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience with cobots and robotics in an assembly environment.
