Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced communicator with a strong understanding of financial services, social impact and philanthropy, and public policy, and a proven ability to deliver compelling external communications and media relations programs. The successful candidate will help develop and execute a comprehensive communications plan in support of the Bank’s global social impact strategy. This includes monitoring emerging trends, identifying thought leadership opportunities, and working closely with colleagues across the Bank to connect insights, amplify impact and tell TD’s social impact story in new and compelling ways.

The successful candidate will:

  • Work closely with senior leaders to develop proactive communications programs that support the Bank's social impact strategy.

  • Bring exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, particularly across social impact communications.

  • Build on strong media and stakeholder relationships and a clear understanding of media relations tactics, business trends and emerging social impact issues.

  • Apply sound judgment in issues management, strategic planning and risk assessment.

  • Select the right channels and storytelling tools to engage employee and external audiences across traditional and social platforms.

  • Demonstrate strong project management skills and collaborate across teams to deliver creative, high-impact communications.

  • Think creatively, navigate ambiguity and adapt quickly in a fast-moving environment.

  • Be active in the community and has demonstrated a commitment to volunteerism and community leadership

Job Requirements:

  • Seven or more years' experience in journalism or communications in a corporate or agency setting.

  • Experience developing and executing communications plans that advance business objectives and strengthen the Bank’s social impact narrative.

  • Proven experience providing communications counsel and issues management support to business partners and senior executives.

  • Proven track record in both proactive and reactive media relations. Experience working with key journalists who cover business and/or ESG topics is an asset.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines and stakeholders in a complex organization.

  • Resourceful and detail-oriented, with the ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.

  • Entrepreneurial and adaptable, with a collaborative mindset and comfort operating in ambiguity.

  • Undergraduate degree or PR/marketing/corporate communications certification, designations, or equivalent required.

  • Social Impact and/or public policy certifications, designations or equivalent is an asset.
