This role is a key part of the Manulife Bank Strategy, Governance and Controls team and will contribute to the successful delivery of the overall strategic mandate. This influential and high-profile role will support consistent delivery of compelling messages for the CEO of Manulife Bank that reinforce the strategic objectives. It enables the CEO’s voice, narrative, and presence by translating bank strategy into clear, compelling communications, executive content, and engagement moments that drive alignment, execution, and impact. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and a skilled communicator with the ability to make complex concepts simple and engaging for various audiences. 

This position acts as a liaison between the CEO and cross-functional teams, ensuring the effective execution of go-to-market strategies, optimizing communication, and tracking progress toward business goals.

Key Accountabilities:

Communications & Brand Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders involved in go-to-market activities establishing and maintaining a strong, consistent brand identity across all media and stakeholder touchpoints facilitating clear communications and alignment.

  • Maintain a single source of truth for Bank positioning, product narratives, internal/external speaking points, managing access and freshness governance. 

  • Orchestrate teams to deliver executive ready content (briefs, speaking notes, decision memos) and in a copy platform enforcing artifact standards and style. 

  • Partner with Risk, Legal and Compliance as needed to ensure content and presentations are compliant and approvals auditable.

  • Identify potential risks and obstacles in go-to-market plans; proactively develop mitigation strategies in collaboration with relevant teams.

Events 

  • Drive fulsome executive event support for the bank to foster engagement and connect employees’ work to the mission of the bank.

  • Lead the planning and development of semi-annual Leaders Forums and partner with the Canada Communications team to host two townhalls. 

  • Ensure events reinforce strategic positioning and deliver measurable impact.

  • Prepare Briefs for the CEO and other executives for external events including: 

  • Research and create briefing documents for the CEO and executives ahead of meetings, interviews, and events. 

  • Summarize essential information, talking points, and anticipated questions to enable effective participation.

Strategic Communications Planning 

  • Concise articulation of bank strategy, priorities and performance to bank employees.

  • Drive holistic executive communications support for the President & CEO, Manulife Bank.

  • Ensure alignment to the overall Global and Segment communications plans, as well as the Manulife Bank strategy and OKRs.

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CEO to develop and refine go-to-market strategies for products, services, and market expansions.

  • Communication Management: Draft executive communications, presentations, and messaging related to go-to-market strategies; ensure consistency and clarity.

Strategic Communication Go-To-Market Performance Tracking 

  • Collaborate with Canada Communications on maintaining KPIs and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of PR, branding, communications, and event initiatives.

  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities, trends, and competitive threats; provide actionable insights to inform CEO decision-making.

  • Recommend enhancements to processes and tools to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of go-to-market operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in executive communications, public relations, or similar roles.

  • Proven track record of managing high-profile individuals or brands.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Experience with media relations and crisis communications is a plus.

  • Effective conceptual, diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Well-developed planning and project management skills.

  • Extremely detail-oriented, self-starter, deadline-driven.

  • Receptive and adaptive to an evolving, fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent knowledge with MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.

Salary range is expected to be between

$92,900.00 CAD - $142,900.00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
