JOB SUMMARY:

As part of the Learning Services team, the Manager, Instructional Design helps oversee the delivery of engaging, quality, interactive learning solutions that help our clients transform learning at their institution. The Manager, Instructional Design is responsible for continuing to grow and develop a team of passionate, creative teaching and learning professionals. This position is people-oriented and focused on helping build a growing line of business while bringing inspiration and fun every day.  

Major Responsibilities: 

  • People Leadership and Performance 
    • Managing and leading a team of instructional designers and related learning roles, as applicable 
    • Champion of a high performing culture 
    • Connecting the team’s day to day accountabilities to D2L’s mission by setting clear objectives and performance expectations with team members 
    • Provide coaching, regular feedback, career path development, growth opportunities, and create a collaborative and open environment 
    • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to accomplish established corporate and team goals and effectively manage relationships with other D2L teams 
    • Support vision, planning and defining team objectives, and leading execution of objectives 
    • Working with peers and leaders to drive productivity, efficiency, and hold team accountable for high quality outcomes 
    • Play key role with interviewing, hiring and onboarding new team members 
    • Produce and actively participate in knowledge sharing as well as professional development initiatives 
  • Clients and Projects 
    • Build a team that is client focused  
    • Support project management efforts, as needed  
    • Assist with guiding clients through their journey in online education and recommend where our teams can help 
    • Build and maintain positive relationships and encourage open dialogue and feedback with clients 
  • Departmental and Revenue 
    • Focused on delivering business results 
    • Responsible for supporting the management, planning, and reporting on projects and business metrics for the team, including financial, customer satisfaction, and projects success 
    • Provide support to the presales and sales teams with opportunities and related RFPs. 
  • Solutions & Offerings 
    • Drive innovation and continual improvement within the department 
    • Work with the Learning Services teams to create new solution offerings based on feedback from the team and clients 
    • Proactively look for opportunities to grow the business and provide value to existing clients and prospects through new and improved capabilities and practices across the team 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Project Management: Strong project management skills to oversee multiple projects, allocate resources, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Experience: 

  • 5+ years’ relevant experience in a creative, client facing environment 
  • 3+ years’ management experience working with creative design and development teams  
  • Client facing project management experience is considered an asset. 
  • Experience working efficiently and effectively under pressure managing high volumes of work within a deadline driven environment 

Location Information: This position offers the flexibility to work from your home office within Canada or at one of our vibrant office spaces in Kitchener, Toronto, Winnipeg or Vancouver.

The expected base salary range for a new hire in this role is listed below. The annualized base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and industry. As part of the total compensation at D2L the role may be eligible for additional benefits including a Wellness Subsidy, Equity Grants, Variable Incentive, and more.

Base Salary Range

$81,750$106,250 CAD
