General Description

The Manager, Infrastructure Services leads the day-to-day delivery, reliability, security, and continuous improvement of D2L's Corporate IT infrastructure and platform services. This role builds a strong team culture, develops team members, and partners across the business to ensure infrastructure services are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with organizational priorities. The Manager translates infrastructure strategy and roadmaps into clear team priorities and reliable delivery plans, while balancing operational excellence, risk management, automation, and customer needs. 

How Will I Make an Impact?

  • Lead and develop the Infrastructure Services team, creating a culture of high quality, accountability, collaboration, and innovation. 
  • Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development for team members. 
  • Define and maintain clear team priorities and delivery plans aligned to Corporate IT and business objectives. 
  • Guide the team through technical and operational decisions that balance people, process, technology, security, and business impact. 
  • Identify operational and project risks early, communicate impacts, and ensure appropriate mitigation and escalation. 
  • Drive productivity and efficiency while holding the team accountable for reliable, high-quality outcomes. 
  • Evaluate new technologies and automation opportunities and recommend improvements to infrastructure services. 
  • Partner with the Director, Data & Infrastructure Services to execute infrastructure roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Operations and Maintenance: 

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of D2L's Corporate IT infrastructure and platform services. 
  • Ensure system inventory, configurations, architecture diagrams, utilization reports, and knowledge base documentation are maintained and audited. 
  • Oversee administration of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, endpoint and device management, infrastructure licensing, and related enterprise services. 
  • Ensure infrastructure systems are patched, maintained, and upgraded in accordance with company standards and security guidelines. 
  • Ensure cloud environments are managed in accordance with company security guidelines and infrastructure standards. 
  • Coordinate installation and implementation of new infrastructure systems and services. 
  • Participate in and support reasonable on-call rotation and occasional after-hours maintenance windows as required. 

Monitoring, Reliability and Performance: 

  • Ensure systems are monitored for performance, availability, capacity, and service health, and that faults are resolved in a timely manner. 
  • Strengthen monitoring and observability for new and existing infrastructure services. 
  • Drive capacity planning, performance tuning, and availability improvements. 
  • Review automated processes for accuracy, reliability, and performance. 

Automation and Cloud Infrastructure: 

  • Encourage and build automated processes wherever possible to reduce manual effort and operational risk. 
  • Support development of automation capabilities for infrastructure provisioning and platform services. 
  • Promote modern Infrastructure as Code tools and practices for cloud infrastructure management. 

Incident, Change and Risk Management: 

  • Provide leadership during infrastructure incidents, ensuring effective triage, communication, resolution, root-cause analysis, and preventative actions. 
  • Ensure adherence to departmental protocols and procedures, including change and incident management practices. 
  • Identify and communicate infrastructure risks, dependencies, and service impacts to stakeholders. 
  • Collaboration and Support: 
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively within the team and with internal customers and partner teams. 
  • Build effective working relationships across D2L to support shared goals and cross-functional initiatives. 
  • Advocate for the time and investment required for sound engineering practices, operational health, and continuous improvement. 

The expected base salary range for a new hire in this role is listed below. The annualized base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and industry. As part of the total compensation at D2L the role may be eligible for additional benefits including a Wellness Subsidy, Equity Grants, Variable Incentive, and more.

Base Salary Range
$110,000$125,000 CAD
