We're proud of a culture built on care, inclusion and collaboration, where your voice matters and your growth is supported. We're not just about insurance. We're about making a real difference by protecting what matters most.

The Opportunity

Join Aviva's Compliance team and help build a strong culture of compliance, ethics and accountability across our business.

As a Compliance Manager, you'll work closely with business stakeholders, risk partners, and senior team members to help Aviva meet its regulatory obligations. You will provide independent oversight, challenge, and advice while helping Aviva navigate a complex and evolving regulatory environment.

This is a chance to create a meaningful impact by identifying risks, improving controls, supporting regulatory compliance efforts, and helping ensure we continue doing the right thing for customers, colleagues, and communities.

What you'll do:
  • Assist in the delivery and continual refinement of Aviva Canada's Regulatory Compliance Management Framework (RCMF).

  • Conduct independent monitoring and testing reviews to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify regulatory risks, provide practical mentorship and support effective mitigation.

  • Prepare clear and insightful reporting for senior leadership, governance committees and the Board.

  • Act as Secretary for regulatory compliance meetings, supporting the identification, raising, documentation and tracking of regulatory incidents and remediation activities.

  • Support regulatory submissions, supervisory requests and regulatory examinations.

  • Contribute to regulatory change management activities and help assess the impact of evolving regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with Risk, Legal, Internal Audit and other governance partners to strengthen compliance risk management across Aviva Canada.

What you'll bring:
  • University degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in compliance, risk management, or audit within financial services. Experience within the property and casualty insurance industry is strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian regulatory environment applicable to P&C insurers, including federal and provincial requirements.

  • Experience supporting or delivering frameworks for compliance or risk management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of evaluating complex issues and delivering practical solutions.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence and challenge constructively.

  • Experience preparing regulatory submissions, management reporting and governance materials.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively in a dynamic environment.

What makes you stand out:
  • Certified Public Accountant, Charted Insurance Professional (CIP), Canadian Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) designations considered an asset.

  • Strong understanding of underwriting, claims, distribution, broker relationships and operational controls within a P&C insurer.

  • Experience managing regulatory breaches, control gaps and remediation programs.

  • Experience participating in regulatory consultations or responding to regulatory examinations.

  • Proficiency in French (conversational/professional working proficiency).

What you'll get:
  • The salary band for this position ranges from $110,000 to $130,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.

  • Compelling rewards package including base compensation, eligibility for annual bonus, retirement savings, share plan, health benefits, personal wellness, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Hybrid flexible work model.

  • Outstanding career development opportunities to help you expand your expertise and grow your career.

  • We'll support your professional development and continuing education.

  • Competitive vacation package with the option to purchase 5 extra days off per year.

  • Employee-driven programs focused on gender, LGBTQ+, origins, diversity and inclusion.

  • Corporate wellness programs to support our employees' physical and mental health.

  • Employee discount on home and auto insurance (where applicable).
