We are looking for a highly motivated Manager, Accounting to join our North American Accounting team in Toronto. In this role you will be responsible for managing a team of Property Accountants, overseeing financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting for a portfolio of high quality commercial real estate properties located in major North American cities across multiple asset classes.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

Coordinating and reviewing monthly financial statements, co-owner reporting including detailed variance and projection analysis, annual property and tenant audited statements, and government reporting and remittances;

Managing a team to ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end general ledger close for portfolio of assigned properties;

Managing a team to ensure accurate and timely final operating cost and property tax reconciliations to tenants;

Coaching, mentoring and providing feedback to direct reports, including interim and annual written performance reviews, development plans and business plans;

Budgeting, cash flow management/forecasting, and distributions to owners;
-
Preparing and coordinating year-end audit files and financial statements for external audit and legal entity tax filings.

Assist in the execution of quarterly REIT testing

Providing accounting and financial guidance to the real estate management group including review of new leases, potential financial impact of lease terms and financial impact of new or existing accounting rules and guidelines;

Working closely with Oxford’s Investment team to assist with acquisition and disposition of properties including review of purchase and sale agreements and statement of adjustments;

Liaising with internal groups including tax, legal, treasury, corporate accounting, and leasing on property specific issues as required;

Managing a team to ensure timely and accurate GST/HST filings and remittances.

Leading and or participating in department projects such as process improvement initiatives, business unit support or other departmental initiatives to improve efficiency and accuracy.
To succeed in this role, you have:

A minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Experience in Property Accounting is preferred.

At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role, leading a team of accountants or finance professionals.

A post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting or Finance, with a CPA designation.

Experience with JD Edwards or Yardi preferred;

Are highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and have proven financial analytical skills;
