As a Legal Operations Associate/Manager at Shakudo, you will play a crucial role in driving client success and ensuring operational efficiency. You will support internal team coordination, manage client relationships, and analyze data to develop actionable recommendations. In addition, you will be responsible for financial reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and handling legal requirements to keep Shakudo in adherence with applicable laws. Your role will involve presenting findings to client management, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement strategies, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive, adaptable problem solver who thrives in a dynamic environment and can manage both detailed tasks and larger-scale challenges.

  • Lead the development and execution of SOC 2 compliance strategies, ensuring alignment with Trust Services Criteria, including risk management, security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.
  • Oversee and perform in-depth internal audits of SOC 2 controls, proactively identify and address gaps, and implement robust corrective actions to strengthen the organization's compliance posture. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive SOC 2 compliance program, including governance frameworks, ongoing risk assessments, vendor management processes, and continuous monitoring to ensure operational excellence and audit readiness.
  • Own critical customer operations processes and projects to ensure a best-in-class customer experience.
  • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with clients, addressing their needs to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Support customer growth by designing and executing sales enablement processes and materials.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations explaining technical products to existing and prospective customers.
  • Collaborate within diverse teams to develop and implement solutions, facilitate discussions, and guide teams toward optimal results.
  • Communicate complex ideas and recommendations clearly to various audiences, including leadership.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports tracking customer success, financial performance, and operational metrics.
  • Provide data-driven insights to guide business decision-making.
  • Prioritize and execute core and ad-hoc projects supporting strategic initiatives.
  • Jump into any area of the business requiring resourcing, problem-solving, or reporting.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in operations, analytics, management consulting, finance, or human resources.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in diverse teams and with clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Law, Finance, Management or a related field.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to business operations.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Bias for action and ownership mentality.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and operating in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work full-time from our Toronto office.
  • 1-2 years of startup experience at a venture-backed B2B company.
  • Industry experience with a proven track record of resourcefulness is a strong plus.
