Come be part of our small team of legal professionals which includes lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants. We handle litigation related to group disability benefits, group and individual life insurance, critical illness, accidental death, and dismemberment. As a Legal Assistant and Receptionist for the legal affairs department, you perform administrative tasks to ensure the ease of file handling for the lawyers at Desjardins Financial Security (DFS). Your ability to remain organized in a deadline-driven environment is essential. Your ability to work as a team player is critical. More specifically, you will be required to:

Handle administrative duties. Assist with clerical and organizational tasks such as document management and the assembly of legal files, affidavits of documents and document briefs

Process general clerical work. Drafting, dictation, copying and filing, typing as well as scheduling on behalf of the legal team

Cover the reception desk. Accepting service on behalf of Desjardins entities. Respond to general inquiries and direct mail

What you bring to the table

College diploma in a related field
-
A minimum of two years of relevant experience

Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

Experience with litigation

Experience with insured disputes

Knowledge and understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure (with respect to deadlines and document formats)

Knowledge of document management software
