Overview of Position:

Reporting to the Director, Canada Benefits Strategy & Services, the Leave & Benefits Consultant serves as a subject matter expert and senior practitioner within HUB's Canadian Benefits Centre of Excellence. This role combines deep technical expertise in Canadian leave legislation and group benefits administration from day-to-day guidance & coaching to managing complex case escalations and driving continuous process improvement. The Leave & Benefits Consultant is the primary point of contact for HRBPs, leaders, and employees on all matters related to leave of absence, disability management, and medical accommodations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Canadian leave of absence, disability, accommodation, and group benefits programs, ensuring compliance with federal/provincial legislation, human rights obligations, and company policies

  • Manage leave and disability cases from straightforward to complex, including claim adjudication, workplace accommodations, and gradual return-to-work plans in collaboration with HRBPs, carriers, legal counsel, managers, and employees

  • Act as the primary liaison and escalation point to effectively managing complex and sensitive leave and benefits matters across all levels of the organization

  • Administer group benefits and wellness programs, supporting preventative care initiatives, eligibility, enrolment, and ongoing plan administration.

  • Maintain accurate leave and benefits documentation, reporting, audits, and HRIS data integrity; analyze and present trends, carrier performance, claim activity, and program utilization to identify risks and recommend process improvements

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting leave, disability, accommodation, and benefits programs; assess organizational impact and recommend policy, process, and program enhancements

  • Develop and maintain process documentation, workflows, employee communications, and training materials; translate business requirements into scalable and compliant processes that support employee experience and operational consistency

Skills and Competencies

  • Bilingual in English and French required.

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in Canadian leave and disability administration or case management experience.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and provincial leave legislation across Canada, including ESA requirements and human rights accommodation obligations

  • Proficient in MS Office; Workday HRIS experience strongly preferred

  • Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive employee matters with tact, discretion, and professionalism

  • Strong customer service orientation, sound business acumen, and ability to work independently while maintaining strict confidentiality

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 – $85,000 CAD and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
