What We'll Bring:

We're hiring a Senior Systems Developer to take ownership of critical backend and infrastructure systems. You’ll design scalable solutions, mentor others, and drive improvements across our platform. You'll also play a key role in working directly with clients to understand requirements, solve complex issues, and deliver robust systems—always with testing at the core.
About the Team:
The team is responsible for the Monevo Decisioning and Offers platform, which is built around a powerful, scalable decisioning engine. We collaborate with major financial institutions to host or integrate with their decisioning and offers platforms, providing customers with accurate, personalized offers and making it as seamless as possible for them to access these products. Our platform leverages large datasets, including Credit Bureau data, machine learning models and other techniques to power our decision-making processes.

What You'll Bring:

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and build reliable backend systems and infrastructure tooling
• Use TDD to write high-quality, maintainable code and build out automated test suites
• Own reliability, observability, and performance of key services
• Collaborate with clients to understand requirements, debug issues, and propose solutions
• Drive improvements to system architecture, automation, and deployment processes
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to a strong engineering culture
• Take ownership of problems—investigate, iterate, and fix

Impact You'll Make:

Must-Haves

• Strong programming skills in Node.js or similar backend language
• Deep understanding of TDD and a strong focus on automated testing
• Experience with Cloud Platforms AWS or GCP
• Experience owning backend systems in production environments
• Comfort working directly with clients to gather requirements and debug issues
• Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to understand the root cause of complex issues
• Clear communicator—both in writing and on calls

Nice-to-Haves

• Infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and observability tooling
• Experience scaling systems under sustained load
• Contributions to internal tooling or open source
• Experience with large datasets and machine learning models

Team & Tech Stack

• You’ll work with other senior engineers to shape and scale our systems
• Our stack includes Node.js, MariaDB, DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, GitHub Actions, Terraform
• We practice test-driven development—every change is backed by tests
• We utilise a microservice architecture, making use where possible of AWS serverless computing, GitHub Actions, and Terraform to allow safe, frequent updates to high-performance, high-volume services

What Success Looks Like

In your first 3 months, you’ve led a meaningful technical improvement and solved client-facing issues with confidence. By 6 months, you’re driving technical strategy and actively mentoring other team members.
