Reporting to the Manager, Editorial, Pension Communications, the Lead, Editorial, Pension Communications, oversees the production and delivery of internal and external communications in support of OMERS and the broader Pension Services team.

This position contributes to company and divisional objectives by developing and executing various communications campaigns, providing leadership and representing the Pension Communications team on various cross-divisional projects that primarily support member-facing departments, and recommending and creating compelling and engaging content for various channels.

Working with internal team members and other business partners, the Lead develops a range of high-quality communications products including a podcast, videos, newsletters, articles, emails, digital content and presentations; supports special projects and other related communications activities; and recommends new strategies and tactics based on measurement and feedback.

Key responsibilities

  • Draft and edit various communications products for key audiences, particularly members, employers and stakeholders.
  • Lead campaigns for key initiatives, including content, run-of-show, email and social promotion, internal alignment and day-of execution.
  • Lead post-campaign measurement, insights and lessons learned and make recommendations for continuous improvement and tracking against objectives.
  • Drive the production for The Pension Blueprint podcast, including strategic direction, content development, guest outreach, recording, video editing, email and social promotion and executive communications.
  • Support OMERS Annual Meeting communications through targeted social content and coordination across campaign milestones.
  • Develop high-quality multi-channel content for email, social, web and internal platforms to ensure consistency and impact.
  • Coordinate cross-functional alignment with editorial, design, digital, leadership and stakeholder partners to meet timelines, deliver assets and obtain approvals.
  • Develop and implement integrated communications plans and provide day-to-day counsel and support for various groups across Pensions.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and executive reports for senior leadership.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and brand voice across all platforms and channels.

Required skills and experience

  • University or college degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field
  • 5+ years of related experience in communications, content development or editorial roles
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills with experience developing a range of communications materials under tight deadlines
  • A writing style that balances narrative storytelling with business communications
  • Proven ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, plain-language communications
  • Extensive content marketing strategy development and copywriting experience, including email marketing
  • Multimedia skills such as video and web editing
  • Experience writing executive communications material, including LinkedIn articles, internal memos and external presentations
  • Sound judgment with the ability to confidently provide feedback and recommendations to leadership and cross-divisional teams
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to work independently as required
  • Excellent editorial, organizational and communications planning skills
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience in compiling and presenting communications research and analytics
  • Ability to excel within a team environment through collaboration and cooperation
  • Strong relationship-building skills to build trust and achieve results with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • A resourceful, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and function effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
  • Experience in pension communications, financial services or a regulated environment is an asset

This posting is for an existing vacancy.
The expected salary range for this position is $86,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year.

You may also be eligible to receive an annual Incentive Award pursuant to our Short-term Incentive plan and our Long-Term Incentive plan (if applicable), and to participate in our group benefits and retirement plans – details on these elements of compensation are included within OMERS & Oxford offer letters.
