Do you see yourself as an advisor, helping to solve complex problems by providing insightful expertise on organizational initiatives and projects? Reporting to the Senior Manager, Labour Relations Corporate Initiatives (LRCI), you will support the Collective Bargaining process as well as the development of labour relations strategies in support of business initiatives in furtherance of the organization’s business priorities. In collaboration with the Labour Relations Analyst, you will also identify trends and training opportunities, build communications, training materials and tools.

About the Role
- Assist in the development of bargaining strategy by supporting the execution of needs analysis consultations across the organization.
- Assist the Senior Manager in bargaining preparation through facilitating business consultation and tracking and organizing collective bargaining proposals.
- Play a critical role supporting the LRCI team through the development of labour relations tools, resources, and training in support of leadership development and HR Transformation per the divisional mandate.
- Advise HR advisory and the business on emerging legislation & arbitration awards that may impact entitlements and/or the interpretation of the collective agreement.
- Summarize key LCBO decisions to institutionalize knowledge for the organization, drive consistency and enhance the understanding of labour relations best practices across the organization.
- Support the LRCI team by researching and advising on organizational risks and implications to inform the labour relations strategy that maximizes flexibility and business agility to meet client needs.
- Identify and understand labour market trends, conduct research, and analyze labour relations matters to provide strategic advice to internal stakeholders.
- Develop and manage regular communications vehicles for HR advisory and the business more broadly to increase consistency throughout the organization with respect to the approach to labour relations issues.
About You
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field combined with three years’ work experience in Human Resources or Labour Relations.
- Understanding of long-term business priorities and ability to develop strategic initiatives to drive a corporate labour relations agenda.
- Ability to manage complex labour relations issues in ambiguous circumstances within a fluid decision framework.
- Knowledge of Labour Relations processes and practices with deep functional knowledge of collective bargaining, collective agreement interpretation, employment law, arbitration and alternate dispute resolution.
- Solid understanding of union environments to influence key senior decision makers.
- Prior bargaining experience will be considered as a strong asset.
- Analytical skills to interpret and apply authorities in ambiguous situations, strong problem-solving skills.
- Effective listening and verbal and written communication skills.
