Join an early-stage AI-native security and compliance startup as a Junior Product Designer. Ship Figma flows and prototypes, do hands-on customer configuration with forward-deployed engineers, iterate quickly using AI tools, and grow scope from small features to end-to-end designs. Work hybrid from Toronto/GTA with mentorship from senior design and a co-founder-led product team.
The summary above was generated by AI

Mycroft is an AI-native security and compliance platform. Specialized AI agents and human experts work side by side to secure our customers' devices, manage their vulnerabilities, and quantify their risk.

We exist because businesses looking to become or stay compliant have poor options to choose from: performative, do-it-yourself checklists, or expensive and time-consuming consultants.

We win by combining the best of both: world-class expertise combined with a cutting-edge agentic platform designed for making continuous compliance accessible to all. We've doubled revenue in the past six months and are on track to grow revenue 5x this year.

We're still early. The team is small enough that what you own is genuinely yours, and we're moving fast enough that your work compounds. The hard part is shipping at that pace while earning the trust our customers stake their entire security and compliance posture on. We don't manage that by slowing down. We hire people who can be fast and rigorous at the same time.

Our customers act on what our agents and screens tell them, so design carries unusual weight here. Information density, state clarity, and trust are the product. We're looking for a senior product designer to own that bar.

The team

Our product team is small and led by a co-founder who still designs and ships. You'll work alongside Engineering and our forward-deployed engineers (FDEs), who run customer compliance programs hands-on. Your first month is spent doing real FDE work, configuring the platform for actual customers, so you understand why the product exists before you design for it. No compliance background needed. We'll teach you.

What you'll own
  • Design execution that ships. Figma flows and prototypes engineers build from, under direction at first and independently over time.

  • Your own ramp. Hands-on customer work, teach-backs with FDEs, critique with senior design. Curiosity is the job.

  • A growing slice of scope. As you level up, you take features from problem to design end-to-end.

  • Fresh eyes. You're closest to what confuses new users because you just were one, and you'll flag what you find.

How we actually work
  • AI is a force multiplier, not a crutch. AI tools are a line item in your tooling stipend, not a guilty secret. You ship work you understand and can explain. "The model made it" isn't an answer.

  • Real autonomy. Accountability is day one; independence grows as you do.

  • Small-company reality. No red tape, no waiting your turn. If you want to learn faster than a big company would ever let you, this will feel like home.

You'll fit if
  • You have foundational design craft and a portfolio that shows clear thinking, not just polish.

  • You're hungry and self-propelled. You can show us things you learned or built because nobody stopped you.

  • You communicate ideas clearly. You can explain the reasoning behind a design decision, take feedback, and iterate fast.

  • You use AI tools naturally to learn and produce faster.

  • You're in the Toronto / GTA area, legally able to work in Canada, with professional fluency in English.

  • No GRC or compliance knowledge required. Willingness to get hands-on with it is.

  • You're genuinely curious about the security and compliance industry. Expect a lot of dense reading (frameworks, controls, technical docs) and daily use of AI. We're up front about this because it's a real part of the job, and it works best for people who find it interesting.

Tools we work in (and will teach you)
  • Design: Figma

  • Domain: the frameworks our customers live in (e.g. SOC 2, FedRAMP 20x, CMMC, PCI-DSS, and more)

  • AI tooling: we’re fans of Claude but you can pick what works best for you.

Compensation & benefits
  • Salary + equity: $60,000 - $70,000 CAD per year, based on experience and qualifications.

  • Hybrid: We have a downtown Toronto office where the majority of the team comes in 2-3 days a week, and we support work from home. We expect the Product, Design and Engineering teams to come into the office at least once a week for in-person collaboration.

  • Benefits: Health and dental coverage.

  • Tooling stipend: a monthly stipend to spend on what makes you productive. AI subscriptions, design tools, the lot.
