About the Role:
 
We are currently looking for a Junior Accountant to join our Finance Team in Toronto. You will be reporting to the Finance Manager, and your day-to-day duties will include: preparing and posting month-end journal entries, preparing assigned monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations, completing all required monthly accounting procedures, investigating and analyzing account variances and supporting the interim/year-end audit. This role is a hybrid role based out of Canada, where a minimum number of days as set by the region, is required in the Toronto office. but before you apply please consider whether this aligns to your location. 
 

What You'll be Doing:

  • Complete month-end tasks including journal entries, and the monthly reconciliations including AR, customer deposit, fixed asset, and clearing accounts
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documents, and investigate aged item when necessary
  • Reconciling invoices and dataset between systems
  • Review and analyze Balance Sheet and P&L account variances/movements, and use analytical skills to assess a variety of financial data, consult other staff members when needed
  • Provide assistance and support in the month-end/year-end close processes
  • Support the completion of monthly consolidated financial statements that accurately reflect the financial performance of the company
  • Support the interim/year-end audit processes, and any regulatory and/or local statutory financial statement audits
  • Prepare draft year-end financial statements for various local legal entities to meet all regulatory reporting requirements
  • Perform other ad hoc projects/assignments as required by management
  • Work closely with the Finance team within the group of companies
  • Liaise with business partners in the corporate office to ensure an effective communication process

 

Desired Skills & Abilities:

  • 1+ years of experience in accounting
  • Certificate or Diploma in Accounting or Finance (or Similar)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks to meet deadlines
  • Fast learner and show strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Perform a high volume of numerical work with speed and accurac
  • Excellent English skills (written and oral)
  • Extremely detail oriented and customer service oriented
  • Good understanding and use of financial and operating systems
  • Previous experience within a travel related business is a bonus
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, environment, with strict deadlines
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented
  • Confident, Customer service oriented with a flexible and cooperative approach
