Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our Accounting team for a 6-month temporary contract position. In this role, you will provide key support to the day-to-day operations of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Card management, and general account reconciliation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience using accounting software. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to various areas within accounting while working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:

  • Collect vendor invoices and accurately enter data into the accounting software.
  • Update and maintain the Accounts Payable aging report.
  • Prepare payments for approval and ensure timely processing.
  • Enter payment details into the system and ensure payment confirmations are saved for reference.
  • Reconcile vendor accounts and ensure accurate tracking of all transactions.
  • Assist in preparing backend invoices and ensuring all supporting documentation is in order.
  • Prepare invoices and monitor any discrepancies.
  • Manage and monitor vendor prepaid statements to ensure they are accurately recorded.

Accounts Receivable:

  • Apply wire payments to the appropriate customer accounts in a timely manner.
  • Address customer financial inquiries and resolve any payment-related issues.
  • Process cheque deposits and ensure they are accurately recorded in the system.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and assist with aging reports as needed.

Credit Card Management:

  • Collect receipts from credit card holders, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
  • Accurately enter credit card transactions into the accounting system.
  • Ensure that all receipts and documents are filed correctly in the shared drive for easy access and reference.

Account Reconciliation:

  • Assist with organizing and saving reports required for account reconciliation.
  • Support in the reconciliation of processor accounts and help identify discrepancies.
  • Provide Excel support and assist with detailed account investigations to resolve any financial discrepancies.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes as needed.
  • Provide support for various ad-hoc projects and tasks to ensure smooth accounting operations.

Qualifications:

  • 2 – 3 years of proven experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in accounts payable/receivable or general accounting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software (experience with Quickbooks is a plus).
  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education and Certifications:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Additional accounting certifications (e.g., CPA, or working toward certification) is a plus.
