You'll Love It Here! We're Hiring a Product Tester

As a Product Tester you'll play a key role in assessing, validating, repairing, and processing consumer electronics within our fast-paced Geek Squad City environment. You'll thoroughly test and diagnose devices, perform hardware and software repairs, determine functionality, and accurately process units through the appropriate workflow. You'll help prepare products for their next stage, including refurbishment, resale, recycling, or repair as required. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technology work, troubleshooting, device repair, and working in a dynamic operational setting while staying current with evolving mobile and computer technologies.

Shift Requirements

Monday to Saturday
7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

What You'll Do as a Product Tester
  • Test, diagnose, repair, and refurbish consumer electronics, including smartphones, tablets, computers, gaming devices, wearables, and accessories.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues on Android, iOS, and computer devices.
  • Perform component replacements, upgrades, soldering, and other repairs using specialized tools and techniques.
  • Inspect, grade, process, and disposition devices according to operational and cosmetic condition.
  • Conduct data wiping and factory resets to ensure secure removal of customer information.
  • Prepare devices for resale, refurbishment, recycling, or further repair.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, repair methods, and industry best practices.
  • Support additional technical service activities and special projects as assigned.
Technical Support & Quality Assurance
  • Conduct functional testing on returned, refurbished, and pre-owned electronics.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize operating systems, including Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows, to address performance issues and software malfunctions.
  • Verify product quality and ensure repaired units meet operational standards prior to disposition or return.
  • Test repaired devices to ensure functionality, quality standards, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain compliance with privacy and data security requirements, including PIPEDA.

Operational Support

  • Safely perform material handling duties involving products and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Maintain organized work areas and adhere to established operational procedures.
  • Utilize internal systems and tools to track workflows, repair activities, testing results, and inventory movement.
  • Contribute to a safe, efficient, and customer-focused work environment.
What We're Looking For
  • Minimum 6 months of experience testing, troubleshooting, or repairing consumer electronics.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Cell Phone and/or Computer Repair Technician is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience repairing and refurbishing smartphones, tablets, computers, or other consumer technology products.
  • Knowledge of mobile operating systems and smartphone functionality.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across hardware and software environments.
  • Strong soldering skills for delicate component replacements on circuit boards.
  • Ability to interpret technical schematics and utilize diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of privacy and data protection requirements, including PIPEDA.
  • Experience with Windows operating systems, internet browsers, Microsoft Office, and related software applications.
  • Experience with inventory or repair management systems is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Comfortable performing repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to consistently lift and move products weighing up to 50 lbs.
Education
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
  • Consumer Electronics, Electronics Technology, Computer Studies, Information Technology, or a related technical program is considered an asset.

Base pay range

Hourly pay rate: $18.00 - $18.68
