Reporting to the Manager, Total Plan Investment Reporting, works as a member of the Total Plan Performance team in providing clients investment reporting and analysis for the fund. Using and maintaining the performance analytics system, the data warehouse and other analytics tools, the position is responsible for preparing and analyzing daily, the performance of programs and the consolidated fund. Reporting produced includes performance and attribution reports, exposure reports, and internal and external compliance reports across various entity and asset classes that comprise the fund. The reporting and analysis seek to decompose the various investment factors and characteristics of the fund that contributed to the overall results for given time periods. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Ensure daily that data for the performance measurement and exposure reporting are collected, input, balanced and reconciled in an efficient manner for our Total Fund Dashboard and any issues arising from the processes are either resolved or escalated as required 

  • Co-ordinate with other investment support and finance areas to ensure inputs for reporting are received and are accurate as required and to understand any issues on valuation, accounting etc. that impact reporting.  

  • Calculate performance results and attribution factors at a Total Fund level and asset class or business unit levels. 

  • Calculate exposure reporting such as country, currency, sector, etc. at a Total Fund level, asset class and business unit levels. 

  • Monitor portfolio compliance against defined internal and external regulatory policies. 

  • Ensure that all reporting deadlines are met on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. 

  • Recommend and implement continuous improvements to the efficiency, timing and reliability of reporting processes. 

  • Develop an ongoing working relationship with colleagues in Investment, Finance and Risk to understand new product developments, strategies, policies and other activities, as they pertain to performance measurement and exposure reporting. 

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards in the performance reporting field (GIPS). 

  • Collect information, data and provide comprehensive reports and analysis on pension industry performance results, public market survey results and their contributing factors in a timely fashion. 

  • Add value to the Investment processes at OMERS by providing in-depth analysis and ad hoc reporting to Senior Management. 

  • Participate in projects as required. 

  • Establish and maintain an effective, team oriented and collaborative working relationship with all staff and management, and act in a manner consistent with OMERS core values. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 2-4 years of experience in a financial institution at the Analyst level assembling and delivering financial information related to performance and exposure of investment products and portfolios. 

  • Understanding of investment performance and attribution, risk, exposure, and financial reporting issues. 

  • An understanding of investment products including bonds, equities, derivatives and alternative investments, such as: private equity, real estate and infrastructure. 

  • University degree in Business, Math or related discipline; required to hold a CFA or CIPM designation or be working towards qualification; CPA designation would be an asset, but not required 

  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex analysis and manage/resolve issues. 

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process enhancements to ensure that activities are completed in an efficient manner and add value. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI, capable of developing advanced spreadsheets, conducting data analysis, and creating impactful visual presentations and dashboards.

  • Solid working knowledge of SQL (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server) is required to support data extraction and reporting; expert-level proficiency is not necessary, but comfort with writing and understanding basic queries is expected.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work as part of a team, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
