International Trades Specialist
Position Summary:
The primary function of this position will be to work closely with customs brokers and forwarders to ensure customs compliance, maintaining applicable databases, auditing customs entries, maintaining files and preparing documentation. Tracing shipments, preparing reports related to tariffs and duties, receiving verification, processing and approving invoices.
Performance Expectations:
Work closely with brokers and forwarders to ensure customs compliance, proper HS Classification / accurate paperwork is submitted/reported.
Reviewing/auditing and amending customs entries if applicable, ensuring correct tariffs and duties are levied.
Maintenance of databases in regard to shipments data, country of origin, HS tariff codes, tariffs and duties, vendor NAFTA data verification etc.
Supporting preparation of customs documentation for all inbound and outbound components (parts, machinery, recon units, ocean containers).
Contacting transportation companies, brokers, freight forwarders, booking & tracing shipments.
Preparing reports, processing and approving invoices, receiving verification, drawbacks and special projects as required.
Maintaining files and database records.
Participating in training as required to maintain and enhance skill level and support other positions within department.
Credentials:
CCS Designation or equivalent or actively working towards it.
Post-Secondary Education in Business, Trades, Supply Chain Management or related field.
Desired Characteristics:
Minimum 2+ years of experiences in a similar or related role.
Experienced with customs/transportation requirements and inbound and outbound border crossing procedures.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook).
Knowledgeable of import/export procedures, freight forwarding, able to secure compliance and operation in agreement with applicable laws are regulations.
Able to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms with various levels of the organization and service providers.
Excellent attention to details and energetic in all duties, working in a fast-paced environment while shifting priorities.
