What you'll be doing

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Core Banking and Payments Technology Quality Engineering (QE) team. You’ll be hands on with all aspects of the system’s testing process and provide suggestions that will ensure client needs are met with the highest quality. You’ll create test plans, test strategies that include automation strategies, and provide cost estimates that will help create the Bank of the future. This role ensures that all testing processes are executed efficiently, meet quality standards, and align with project timelines. The Intermediate Quality Engineer works closely with project managers, developers, quality engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

How you'll succeed

  • Testing expertise – Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies. Lead the investigation and translation of business and technical requirements into test cases. Design and manage end-to-end testing activities for various projects across the business. Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, schedules, and resource allocations for testing activities. Develop and maintain automated test cases.  Develop and maintain automated test suites using test automation tools. Execute test cases (manual/automated), document test results, raise defects whenever necessary. Track, report, and manage defects throughout the testing lifecycle, ensuring issues are resolved promptly. Prepare and present regular status reports, test metrics, and risk assessments to project leadership. Ensure all testing activities comply with organizational policies/frameworks, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Automation expertise – Experience in the execution and creation of automation strategies, tools and frameworks.

  • Project coordination – Coordinate the efforts of testing teams, including internal staff and external vendors, to ensure timely completion of test phases. Identify obstacles or risks that may impact a project’s timeline or success and provide regular status updates to the business. Keep the lines of communication open with stakeholders and escalate issues when necessary. Ensure that all test deliverables are received, approved, and aligned to your project’s timeline, budget, and goals.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate proven 3+ years of experience in an automation or equivalent technical role.  Good working knowledge of QE processes. Must have hands on experience with test automation tools such as Selenium/Robot framework, Parasoft SOAtest, Postman, Rest Assured, Cucumber or similar test tools required for testing REST and Web Services. Preferred language experience on Python and Java, and SQL database skills. Ability to build out automated testing scripts and strategies and integrate them with DevOps tools. Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM) is required. Preferred experience with lending applications such as Excalibur, LCMS and CLASS systems etc. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
