We are hiring an Intermediate Actuarial Analyst, and this role is responsible for working with other members of the team to apply statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to build solutions for claims. Proactively research new ways of data analysis, model building, visualization and interpretation to unlock meaningful and actionable insights.
This role reports to the Team Lead and works in conjunction with other junior & senior Actuarial Analysts, Data Scientists and Data Analysts. Will also support ad hoc requests to fulfill various goals within the team.
What will you do?
Data Literacy
- Responsible for understanding what the data means and possesses the ability to process the data using SQL and python as required with minimal assistance.
Model Building
- Building machine learning models for some problems and able to understand the “bigger picture”. This role will work with others to learn and improve on their model.
Report Building and Insights
- Responsible for providing statistical analysis to identify trends and anomalies and provide claims insights, and building and maintaining visualization in Power BI to support the business as required without technical assistance but with some direction.
Research and Development
- The Intermediate Actuarial Analyst will proactively research new ways of data analysis, model building, visualization and interpretation to unlock meaningful and actionable insights.
Collaboration
- This role will work with and provide support to other members of the team and share insights with different stakeholders from Claims.
What will you need to succeed in this role?
- Undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Data Science, or FARM
- Completion of CAS preliminary exams (1 – 4, including VEEs and all modules) is preferred, not required
- 2-4 years of applicable experience at this or another Property & Casualty insurance company OR 2-4 years’ experience in a Data Science role
- Experience in Python, SQL, PowerBI is ideal
- Attention to detail and able to work collaboratively with other team members
