The Infrastructure Architect is responsible for the design of infrastructures, including servers, storage, workstations, middleware, non-application software, networks, and the physical facilities that support the applications and business processes required by the client.

Key Job Functions/Responsibilities

•    Assume overall technical responsibility for the success of proposed solution design, solution content, solution construction, and solution integration to satisfy client requirements.
•    Gather and analyze client I/T needs, translate these needs into requirements for specific systems management processes, products, and services, and may lead or advise the teams which install, operate and maintain the I/T system.
•    Through the use of pre-sales methodologies, apply in-depth knowledge of leading-edge technology solutions with industry and business skills to influence clients and sell Broadridge SIS solutions.
•    Proper Resource Allocation: Ensure that VMs are allocated appropriate CPU, memory, and storage resources to prevent resource contention and maintain optimal performance.
-    Network Segmentation: Use VLANs and virtual switches to segment network traffic, improving security and performance.
-    Regular Backups: Implement a comprehensive backup strategy that includes regular snapshots and backups of VMs to prevent data loss.
-    Monitoring and Alerts: Utilize monitoring tools to track the performance and health of the ESX environment and set up alerts for potential issues.
-    Security Hardening: Follow VMware's security guidelines to harden the ESX hosts and protect against unauthorized access.
•    Knowledge of network architecture 
-    Scalability: Design the network with future growth in mind, ensuring it can scale to accommodate increased traffic and additional devices.
-    Redundancy: Implement redundant network paths and failover mechanisms to enhance reliability and minimize downtime.
-    Security: Employ layered security approaches, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and network segmentation.
-    Performance: Optimize network performance through proper load balancing, traffic prioritization (QoS), and minimizing latency.
-    Documentation: Maintain thorough and up-to-date network documentation to facilitate troubleshooting and future upgrades.
•    Knowledge of Windows Server Architecture 
-    Active Directory (AD) Design: Plan and implement a robust AD structure, including organizational units (OUs), group policies, and replication strategies.
-    Server Roles and Features: Configure servers with the appropriate roles and features based on the organization's needs, such as DNS, DHCP, and file services.
-    Patch Management: Implement a reliable patch management process to keep servers up-to-date with the latest security updates and feature enhancements.
-    Backup and Recovery: Ensure a comprehensive backup and recovery plan is in place, including regular backups and tested recovery procedures.
-    Monitoring and Maintenance: Use monitoring tools to track server performance and health, and perform regular maintenance tasks such as disk cleanups and log management.
•    Knowledge of Identity Management using various technologies re: AD, Okta, ISAM, etc. 
-    Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Implement MFA to enhance security by requiring multiple forms of verification.
-    Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): Assign permissions based on roles to ensure users have the minimum necessary access.
-    Single Sign On and federated identities
•    Knowledge of z System 
-    Workload Management: Efficiently manage and prioritize workloads using tools like Workload Manager (WLM) to ensure optimal resource allocation.
-    Security: Implement stringent security measures, including encryption, access controls, and regular security audits.
-    High Availability: Design the system for high availability with features like Parallel Sysplex and Geographic Mirroring.
-    Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize system performance using performance management tools.
•    Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices 
-    Risk Assessment: conduct risk assessments to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
-    Data Encryption: Encrypt sensitive data both at rest and in transit to prevent unauthorized access.
-    Practical experience of integrating various systems
-    Compatibility Assessment: Evaluate the compatibility of different systems and applications to ensure seamless integration.
-    Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of integration processes and configurations for future reference.
•    Practical Experience DevOps, Cloud 
-    Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes.
-    Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Use IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.
-    Cloud Security: Follow cloud security best practices, such as encryption, access controls, and regular security audits.
-    Monitoring and Logging: Use monitoring and logging tools to track the performance and health of cloud resources.
-    Scalability: Design cloud architectures for scalability to handle varying workloads and demand.

Basic Skill Level Requirements

Education:

  • University degree or college diploma in a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience as an Infrastructure Architect.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of Power Server virtualisations practice

  • Knowledge of ESX virtualisation and best practices
