Who You Will Work With:

The Infrastructure & Platform Enablement Lead, reporting to the Leader, Infrastructure and Platform Management, serves as the primary liaison between Product teams and Infrastructure & Platform Engineering, acting as the super delegate responsible for coordinating platform initiatives, managing dependencies, and ensuring infrastructure and platform capabilities are aligned to support successful product delivery.

The role translates business and product priorities into structured infrastructure demand, guides requests through intake and discovery, and coordinates planning, commitments, dependencies, financial impacts, risks and escalations across Engineering Capability Teams and Technology Service Providers.

What You’ll Do

Product Engagement and Demand Intake

  • Build trusted relationships with Product leaders, product owners and delivery teams, developing a clear understanding of business outcomes, roadmaps, service priorities and target timelines.
  • Act as the single front door for infrastructure and platform demand, providing Product teams with a consistent engagement experience.
  • Translate business and application needs into clear, structured infrastructure and platform requirements.
  • Qualify incoming demand by confirming scope, intended outcomes, priority, timing, assumptions and required decisions.
  • Challenge unclear or incomplete requirements constructively and bring the appropriate technical specialists into discovery discussions.
  • Maintain a consolidated view of Product demand, progress, decisions and outstanding actions.

Integrated Planning and Commitment Management

  • Coordinate discovery, feasibility assessment, workload placement and delivery-readiness activities across relevant capability teams.
  • Develop an integrated plan that combines estimates, sequencing, dependencies, decision points and delivery commitments across multiple infrastructure domains.
  • Validate that proposed commitments are supported by agreed scope, capacity, funding, dependencies and accountable owners.
  • Identify cross-team dependencies, critical-path risks and conflicting commitments early enough for action.
  • Maintain RAID items, decisions, assumptions and escalations, with clear business impact and recommended options.
  • Provide Product teams with transparent status, realistic commitments and timely communication when conditions change.

Cross-Domain Coordination and Governance

  • Coordinate outcomes across Cloud, Compute, Containers, Network, Storage, Database, Security, Observability, Service Operations and other relevant capability teams.
  • Facilitate readiness and commitment reviews, ensuring decisions and hand-offs are documented and understood.
  • Coordinate Technology Service Provider contributions, dependencies, performance concerns and escalations affecting Product outcomes.
  • Integrate technical plans, delivery commitments, financial impacts, risks and dependencies into a single end-to-end view.
  • Coordinate operational-readiness requirements, including monitoring, resilience, support, security, compliance, change and transition considerations.
  • Escalate unresolved constraints with a clear articulation of impact, options, recommendation and required decision.

Financial and Commercial Visibility

  • Coordinate infrastructure estimates and identify key cost drivers associated with Product demand.
  • Provide visibility into cloud and platform consumption, forecast impacts, budget assumptions and financial variances.
  • Connect technical choices to cost, risk, resilience and delivery implications so Product teams can make informed decisions.
  • Support financial planning, consumption analysis and validation of costs associated with infrastructure outcomes and service-provider delivery.

Golden Pipeline and Platform Enablement Partnership

  • Identify Product requirements that should consume approved Golden Pipeline capabilities and standard delivery patterns.
  • Connect Product teams with Platform Enablement and incorporate onboarding activities into the integrated Product plan.
  • Coordinate dependencies and exceptions that affect Product outcomes, while Platform Enablement owns Golden Pipeline onboarding, adoption and consumption governance.
  • Track Golden Pipeline adoption as part of the broader Product commitment and readiness view.
  • Promote standard capabilities and reusable delivery paths instead of unnecessary bespoke solutions.

Technical Breadth

The role requires broad infrastructure and platform literacy sufficient to identify dependencies, challenge incomplete plans and engage the right specialists. Deep hands-on expertise in every domain is not required.

  • Hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure, including AWS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Compute, virtualisation, Windows and Linux operating environments.
  • Containers, Kubernetes and platform-engineering concepts.
  • Enterprise networking, connectivity, security and identity dependencies.
  • Storage, database, backup, disaster recovery and operational resilience.
  • Observability, monitoring, capacity and operational readiness.
  • Infrastructure as Code, automation, CI/CD and controlled delivery pipelines.
  • Security-by-design, compliance, audit evidence and change-controlled technology environments.

Leadership

  • Influence outcomes across teams without relying on direct authority.
  • Bring structure, ownership and decision clarity to ambiguous or complex demand.
  • Facilitate productive discussions across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Security, Risk, Finance, Operations and service providers.
  • Challenge assumptions respectfully while protecting delivery quality and accountability boundaries.
  • Translate technical complexity into concise business outcomes, options, risks and recommendations.
  • Communicate confidently with technical practitioners, Product leaders and senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong ownership, follow-through, judgement and attention to detail.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud, platform engineering, technical delivery, service enablement, infrastructure architecture or technology programme leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex infrastructure outcomes across multiple technical domains and accountable teams.
  • Strong understanding of Product and technology delivery lifecycles, from demand and discovery through delivery readiness and transition.
  • Experience developing integrated plans, managing cross-team dependencies, maintaining RAID items and coordinating delivery commitments.
  • Ability to review technical proposals, identify missing requirements and challenge assumptions constructively.
  • Experience working across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Security, Risk, Finance, Operations and external service providers.
  • Financial and commercial awareness, including infrastructure estimates, cloud consumption, forecasts, cost drivers and variances.
  • Experience operating in a regulated, audited, high-availability or change-controlled environment.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, written communication, executive communication and stakeholder-engagement skills.
  • Ability to translate technical decisions into business, service, cost, risk and delivery implications.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in payments, financial services or another regulated and highly available environment.
  • Experience with Product operating models, service enablement, technical programme leadership or similar Super Delegate responsibilities.
  • Experience with platform engineering, internal developer platforms, Golden Paths or Golden Pipeline adoption.
  • Experience coordinating cloud migration, infrastructure modernisation or complex cross-domain delivery programmes.
  • Experience coordinating managed service providers and third-party technology delivery.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, ITIL, FinOps, cloud, platform or comparable certification.
  • Practical experience using AI-enabled tools to improve analysis, dependency identification, documentation, knowledge retrieval and reporting.
