At SecondShop, we’re a team of Canadians who believe in doing better—for our country, your wallets, and our planet.

We started with a simple idea: why should perfectly good products go to waste or sit unsold when people like you are out there looking for smart ways to save? We have made it our mission to source the highest quality open-box, overstocked, and scratch-and-dent products from the top brands - offering them to Canadians at up to 50% off. But we are not just about savings—we’re about changing how people shop. Say goodbye to paying full price and hello to smarter spending.

We’re looking for a hands-on HR Coordinator / People Operations Specialist to support and run the day-to-day people operations at SecondShop. This role is deeply execution-focused and based on site in our Burlington office five days per week.

You’ll be the first point of contact for employee relations matters, HR administration, and recruitment delivery, while also owning core people systems (ATS, HRIS, onboarding workflows). This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys being close to the business, handling real-time people issues, and ensuring people processes work smoothly and consistently.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for day-to-day HR matters including employee relations issues, complaints, attendance concerns, and policy questions
  • Support managers with investigations, disciplinary processes, and performance improvement plans, ensuring documentation and consistency
  • Maintain accurate employee records, files, and case documentation
  • Escalate complex or sensitive issues appropriately while managing routine matters independently

Recruitment & Hiring

  • Support and execute end-to-end recruitment across corporate, warehouse, and operational roles
  • Coordinate job postings, screening, interview scheduling, and offers
  • Partner with hiring managers to keep hiring processes moving efficiently
  • Ensure a positive and professional candidate experience
  • Prepare contracts, system access, training schedules, and onboarding documentation
  • Manage offboarding processes including documentation, system access removal, and exit interviews
  • Ensure onboarding and offboarding are compliant, organised, and consistent

Systems & Process Ownership

  • Administer people systems including ATS and HRIS
  • Maintain data accuracy across employee records and reporting
  • Act as the first point of contact for system questions and basic troubleshooting
  • Support continuous improvements to people operations workflows

People Operations & Compliance

  • Support payroll inputs, benefits administration, and employee changes in coordination with external providers
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario employment standards and internal policies
  • Assist in developing clear, practical HR processes that scale with the business

Who We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in Talent Operations, HR Operations, or People Ops roles
  • Hands-on experience dealing with employee relations issues and HR administration
  • Exposure to recruitment coordination or delivery across multiple role types
  • Experience working with ATS and HRIS systems
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator who can work directly with employees and managers
  • Comfortable working in an operational, fast-paced environment
  • Able and willing to work on site in Burlington five days per week

What We Offer

  • A hands-on, high-impact role in a growing company
  • Competitive compensation (Pay: CA$55,000.00 - CA$70,000.00 per year) + benefits
  • Close collaboration with leaders and frontline teams
  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • The opportunity to grow with the People function as SecondShop scales
