What you’ll do
As a Head of HR Business Partnering supporting the Americas Hub, Finance, & Legal, you will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic thought partner to the executives and leadership teams of the Chief Financial Officer, VP of IT/OT, Executive Vice President of the America’s Hub, and the General Legal Counsel. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will translate business priorities into practical People strategies, strengthening leadership effectiveness, organizational design, talent outcomes, and overall employee experience. This role is critical to enabling business growth and advancing our mission of transforming the energy sector into the foundation for a sustainable future.
This role is based in Toronto and requires working from the corporate office at least 4 days per week under our hybrid working model

Key responsibilities 

  • Serve as the primary senior HR partner to three executives and their direct reports (primarily VP-level), sitting on their respective leadership teams   

  • Partner with senior leaders to drive engagement, leadership effectiveness, and positive employee experiences 

  • Lead org design and change initiatives across Finance, America’s Hub, and Legal (e.g., operating model shifts, restructures, leadership transitions), ensuring clear roles, decision rights, and adoption 

  • Partner with People Centers of Expertise (Talent, Total Rewards, People Operations) to deliver solutions aligned to client group priorities, including workforce planning, role architecture, and market-competitive rewards 

  • Drive talent planning for critical capabilities, assessing near- and long-term needs, identifying gaps, and building practical plans to close them 

  • Support the talent review and succession planning process for CFO, America’s Hub, and Legal populations—strengthening bench depth, development plans, and readiness for key leadership and specialist roles 

  • Coach leaders through complex employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations, partnering closely with Legal to mitigate risk and ensure consistent, compliant outcomes 

  • Provide strategic council on compensation and job leveling for roles, reinforcing pay governance, internal equity, and consistent decision-making in partnership with Total Rewards

  • Collaborative: You build trusted relationships easily and have proven expertise and experience serving in a consultative capacity to senior business leaders.  

  • Global mindset: You can work across geographical boundaries and implement People solutions that deliver value across diverse global teams. You can interact, influence, and collaborate across different cultures, languages, and time zones. 

 

Qualifications and experience 

  • Minimum of 7 years progressive HR experience with at least 3 years as a HRBP collaborating with leaders at the Director-level or above 

  • CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset 

  • Demonstrated experience in change management, organizational design, talent management, and employee relations  

  • Industry experience in the energy or finance sector considered an asset 

  • Proven ability to partner with, coach, and appropriately challenge senior business leaders 

  • Experience working in a matrixed, global, and rapidly changing business environment
