The Global Director of Payroll is responsible for overseeing and managing the payroll operations across all international locations. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and aligns payroll processes with the company's strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in global payroll management, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of international payroll laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage the global payroll team, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.
- Develop and implement payroll strategies that align with the company's overall objectives.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the payroll team as well as with other stakeholder teams, e.g., HR.
- Payroll Operations:
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for BlackBerry’s global locations in North America, EMEA and APAC (approx. 21 separate payrolls).
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, state, and federal payroll regulations.
- Provide payroll journal files to finance team.
- Manage relationships with external payroll vendors and service providers.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll laws and regulations in each country of operation.
- Prepare and submit required payroll reports to regulatory authorities.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll processes and records to ensure accuracy and compliance, including with SOX.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in payroll management.
- Collaborate with other departments (i.e. HR) to streamline payroll-related processes.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage the payroll budget.
- Provide accurate payroll forecasts and reports to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field. Relevant certification (e.g., CPP, CPM) is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in payroll management, with at least 5 years in a global payroll role.
- Strong knowledge of international payroll laws and regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems, especially Workday and ADP WFN.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid position (3 days in office, 2 days WFH).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
