Role: Global Data Governance Manager
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Global Director, Global Director ERP, the Global Data Governance Manager will work collaboratively with business leaders, department leads, IT, and ERP teams to maintain and optimize the organization’s master data.
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining master data management and data governance processes, standards, and solutions to support business users across the organization. This role will oversee a global team of MDM Analysts responsible for analyzing, maintaining, enriching, and improving master data across key domains.
This role is based fully onsite out of our Mississauga, ON office location.

Job Responsibilities
Master Data Management
• Lead and manage the global MDM function, overseeing day-to-day MDM operations and ensuring alignment with enterprise data strategies.
• Directly manage and coach a team of 9 MDM Analysts, fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable work environment.
• Partner with IT, Business, and ERP teams to support data readiness for major initiatives, including ERP rollouts, mergers and acquisitions, and system integrations.
• Define and implement processes to support the creation and maintenance of global master data.
• Define and select solutions to support MDM processes.
• Create and maintain a multi-year roadmap to implement defined MDM solutions and processes.
• Monitor and refine MDM processes and solutions based on business feedback and operational needs.
• Coordinate with other IT teams to implement MDM-related solutions.
• Coordinate with third-party solution providers as required.
• Lead projects related to MDM process and solution improvements.
• Implement KPIs and reporting frameworks to track master data operations, SLA adherence, and continuous improvement activities.
• Drive automation and standardization initiatives across the MDM landscape to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Serve as a global point of contact for master data inquiries, governance matters, and change requests.
Data Governance
• Design and document the Data Governance Framework aligned with the organization’s master data needs.
• Define and maintain data governance policies, data standards, and data control procedures across all domains, with a focus on three key master data domains: products/items, suppliers, and customers.
• Create, maintain, and enhance master data assets within the organization’s ERP systems, including technical, business, and operational metadata.
Data Quality
• Ensure global data quality and integrity across key domains, including Customer, Vendor, Product, Material, and Finance, by developing and enforcing MDM standards and policies.
• Monitor and resolve master data quality issues across business units, escalating as needed to maintain compliance and minimize operational disruption.
• Implement KPIs and reporting frameworks to track data quality.
• Develop and implement strategies to maintain and optimize the organization’s data quality processes based on leading practices.
• Manage data quality projects by understanding business strategies, priorities, and challenges.
• Assess current data quality capabilities and identify appropriate solutions to deliver business value.
• Identify opportunities for data quality improvement initiatives with business partners to address data quality challenges.
• Execute data correction activities and engage the appropriate business teams to update processes and remediate data quality issues.
• Establish data quality metrics and monitor compliance.
• Lead initiatives to improve data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
Data Oversight
• Act as the ultimate approver for global master data as per the MDM workflow processes.
• Serve as the escalation point for global master data issues.
• Develop and monitor global MDM key performance indicators to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
People Management
• Provide leadership and people care for the global team of MDM Analysts across North America and Europe.
• Ensure MDM Analyst performance targets align with organizational and departmental goals.
• Manage performance for all MDM Analysts.
• Develop and deploy training plans for MDM Analysts.
• Define the MDM organization structure and manage recruitment for MDM positions.
• Ensure department-level goals are achieved.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years of overall IT experience in data management, master data management, and metadata management.
• Strong proficiency with database management systems, such as Oracle and SQL Server.
• Experience with data analysis tools, reporting software, and MDM software;
• Strong knowledge of master data management and data governance leading practices.
• Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
• Ability to develop and prepare technical specifications and documentation.
• Experience working with ERP systems, including JDE, SAP, Business Central, and Dynamics 365.
• Experience working within the manufacturing and/or building materials industries is considered an asset.
• Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
• Exceptional written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Analysis, or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to travel up to 15% to European locations as required.
