About us:

Venture Lane is a founder-first startup hub in the heart of downtown Boston, built for early-stage B2B tech founders who are focused on real progress. We bring together a curated community, focused programming, and a high-trust ecosystem to help founders move faster across capital, customers, talent, and product. Alongside our workspace community, Venture Lane Studio provides a hands-on traction program designed to help high-potential founders accelerate go-to-market execution and scale with proven frameworks and expert support.

We lead with founders and outcomes. We offer memberships exclusively for B2B tech builders, anchored in coworking and access to resources that drive acceleration and measurable results. In our space, founders can focus on building, but the real value comes from the people, programming, and progress made inside the community.

Your role:

The General Manager is responsible for partnering with the CEO to set strategy and lead execution building to grow Venture Lane as a founder-first startup hub while owning its financial, operational, and community performance. This role sits at the intersection of founder outcomes, revenue growth through product lines and partnerships, program management, and ecosystem development.

You will operate as both a strategic leader and a hands-on operator, leading a lean team to execute go-to-market initiatives for the coworking space and Studio business, oversee space operations, and continuously improve systems and processes. The goal is to ensure Venture Lane consistently delivers measurable value to founders while operating as a healthy, scalable business.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Business Strategy & Performance
    • Own Venture Lane’s financial performance, including revenue growth, occupancy, retention, and cost management.
    • Partner closely with the CEO on strategy, pricing, packaging, and go-to-market execution.
    • Lead sales pipeline management, forecasting, and reporting to drive predictable growth.
  • Partnerships & Founder Impact
    • Own sponsor and strategic partner acquisition, activation, and ongoing relationship management
    • Own founder programming strategy and execution, ensuring measurable progress across capital, customers, talent, and product.
    • Design and evolve programming for founders at different stages, including curated sessions, peer groups, and office hours.
    • Curate a high-signal community of early-stage B2B tech founders, mentors, and ecosystem partners.
    • Build trusted relationships with founders and act as a strategic partner in their journey.
  • Insights, Operations & Team Leadership
    • Produce market insights and analytics across revenue, pipeline, programming, and community engagement to inform decision-making
    • Oversee day-to-day operations and space execution to remove friction and support focused work.
    • Lead a lean team with a hands-on, ownership mindset while continuously improving systems and processes as the business scales.
    • Continuously improve systems, processes, and operating cadence as the business scales

We are looking for:

  • 3-5 years of experience in operations, community, startups, business management, or related roles
  • Meaningful exposure to early-stage startups, founders, or the Boston startup ecosystem
  • Proven ability to own outcomes (not just activities) across programming, revenue, and operations
  • Strong business acumen, including hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management
  • Numbers- and insights-driven, with a clear bias toward results and measurable impact
  • Strong in sales and negotiations, with comfort closing deals and structuring partnerships
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills; trusted, warm, and credible with founders and partners
  • Highly organized and systems-oriented, comfortable building processes from scratch and improving them over time
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to develop new services, activities, and programming as the platform evolves
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter mentality with a bias toward action, learning, and continuous improvement
  • Prior leadership or people-management experience is a plus

Please note that this is a fully in-person role, Monday through Friday.

If you don’t meet every requirement exactly, we still encourage you to apply. We evaluate candidates holistically and value diverse experiences, skill sets, and perspectives.
