The Opportunity

We’re scaling globally with entities in Canada, the U.S., and India, and we’re looking for a dedicated Financial Controller to take ownership of our finance function. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in building financial systems and processes from the ground up. You’ll be the first full-time finance hire at ShyftLabs, playing a critical role in shaping how we track, report, and forecast across multiple projects, products, and entities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Financial Management & Reporting
  • Track all income, expenses, payroll, and software subscriptions across Canadian, U.S., and Indian entities.
  • Build accurate and timely P&L statements for individual projects, products, and clients.
  • Consolidate financials across entities and ensure compliance with local reporting requirements.
  • Forecasting & Analysis
  • Develop financial models, forecasts, and projections for products, projects, and clients.
  • Support leadership with strategic decision-making through data-driven insights.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins, reduce costs, and optimize operations.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Create, distribute, and manage invoices for all clients.
  • Ensure timely collections and vendor payments.
  • Maintain strong cash flow management across all entities.
  • Process & Systems
  • Implement scalable financial processes, tools, and controls as we grow.
  • Partner with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors to ensure compliance.
  • Serve as the internal go-to for all finance-related systems and reporting.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or controllership.
  • CPA designation (or international equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with multi-entity structures (Canada, U.S., and/or international subsidiaries).
  • Strong background in financial reporting, forecasting, and project-based accounting.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Proficiency with accounting and finance tools (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to build processes from scratch.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where you’ll be both hands-on and strategic.
  • Ability to work independently and on tight timelines.
