Financial Controller – REFINE
Location: Toronto (Hybrid)

Overview

The Opportunity:
We are looking for a dynamic, articulate, and experienced Financial Controller to lead full cycle accounting and financial management. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and development of internal control policies and procedures. The role also encompasses financial risk management.

Requirements
  • QuickBooks Online experience (mandatory)

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Strong time management and detail orientation

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines

  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian GAAP and full cycle accounting

  • Experience with payroll, internal controls, month-end and year-end procedures

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team delivering strategic reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis

  • Manage full cycle accounting: A/R, A/P, revenue recognition, month-end close

  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, and variance analysis

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements

  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close

  • Maintain compliance with Canadian, U.S. state, and federal tax requirements

  • Develop internal controls and optimize accounting policies

  • Lead HST/GST and sales tax reporting across provinces/states

  • Recommend process improvements and system enhancements

  • Support team growth and professional development

  • Perform additional controller responsibilities as needed

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of accounting/finance experience in small to medium-sized businesses

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller

  • Ability to manage multiple corporations simultaneously

  • CPA designation or equivalent experience

  • Advanced degree in Accounting

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

  • Skilled in financial statement preparation and GL management

  • Tech-savvy with modern accounting systems

  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
