What you’ll do ​& Who you are

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join the Finance team, reporting to the CFO. You will be an integral part of the team responsible for overseeing and executing the local accounting function, ensuring the implementation, and safeguarding of accounting procedures, controls, and reporting requirements. You will have a hybrid working model attending our downtown office twice a week , and you will partner with our Group controlling team located in Europe.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting processes following Group policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the accuracy of financial reporting and systems to comply with IFRS requirements and corporate policies to guarantee the integrity of financial results for Canada.
  • Own the balance sheet review process, including the flagging risks and opportunities to CFO, as they arise.
  • Support the detailed review and submission of Financial Statements prepared by BPO Partner to Market Finance Lead for approval.
  • Collaborate with the FP&A team to review proposed monthly revenue & cost accruals, to ensure completeness & accuracy of our financials.
  • Support routine General Ledger activities, such as transaction posting and key account reconciliations including liaising with the BPO Partner.
  • Partner with external auditors during interim review and year-end audit processes with support from the BPO Partner and support global tax team with tax audit requests.
  • Support the internal control environment & testing across the organization, communicate exception & performance reports back to the business.
  • Help integrate new processes, revenue streams and system migrations to ensure the mitigation of all potential financial risks and recommend best practice.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to operational methods.
  • Work with multiple currencies.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years or equivalent of financial controlling experience in a large business environment.
  • CPA designation (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience working with large ERP systems such as SAP S4.
  • Excellent communication skills and relationship building capabilities, at all levels in an organization with ability to work in a large matrix multi-national environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Adaptability and organizational skills, with an eagerness to assume new responsibilities, learn new tasks as the business evolves and manage changing priorities.
  • Basic knowledge of IFRS.
  • Excellent Google Suite skills (advanced in Excel/spreadsheets).
