We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our team on a 2-year contract. Within the Finance Team, reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst participates in the accounting functions within the financial reporting cycle. The person is involved in the month-end closing process and the good conduct and continuous improvement of the financial reporting processes under IFRS, while proposing new ways to inspire best practices. The ideal candidate is a strong CPA or CPA in the making with demonstrated public company experience.
Role
- Participate in the month-end closing process and preparation of journal entries.
- Actively involved in preparation of financial statements and related notes under IFRS
- Improve financial reporting processes and propose new ways to inspire best practices within the financial reporting cycle.
- Participate in unifying financial reporting processes across all entities.
- Play an active role in the audit process and support external auditors for year end financial statements.
- Actively participate in designing and implementing internal controls over financial reporting framework (ICFR) and ensure compliance with the requirements of 52-109.
- Continuously improve ERP functions and processes.
- Produce compliance reports and filings.
- Other ad hoc requests (Sales Tax Declaration, IFRS analysis, etc).
Requirements
- CPA designation required (or in the process of having it), Big Four experience is a bonus.
- 3+ years of relevant public accounting experience with similar responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS
- Understanding of Financial Compliance & Disclosures: NI 52-109.
- Rigorous approach to problem solving, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Willingness to improve processes and challenge Status Quo.
- Able to perform in a changing environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive, strong, proactive work ethic approach.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced with Excel).
- Fluent in English, French is an asset.
- Knowledge of Oracle NetSuite is an asset.
- Knowledge of Workiva is an asset.
