We are looking for a Finance & Strategy Director to join Block and help build Cash App, the fastest growing financial app in the world. Cash App's Financial Product Operations team ("FinOps") is responsible for managing the strategy, partnerships, and operations of the financial infrastructure that underpins our platform. The Finance & Strategy team's role is to partner with the FinOps team to design and execute financial strategies and commercial partnerships that enable innovative payments product development in a reliable and cost effective manner.
As a Director working on the Cash App Finance & Strategy team, you will:

  • Collaborate with the FinOps team to craft financial strategies for Cash App, covering partnerships with card networks, card issuers, merchant acquirers, banking and lending partners, and other financial technology companies
  • Develop scalable commercial frameworks that enable the FinOps team to move faster and achieve better economics during negotiations
  • Build sophisticated financial models to evaluate trade-offs associated with key contract terms and partnership decisions
  • Forecast and analyze costs related to Cash App's financial partners, with a focus on identifying optimization opportunities
  • Present financial results and takeaways to internal leadership, with an emphasis on underlying drivers and shifts in trends
  • Manage a growing team


You Have

  • 12+ years of relevant professional experience (e.g., investment banking, management consulting, strategic finance) including 4+ years in the payments industry and extensive fintech knowledge
  • Track record of driving consensus with leaders across functional areas through strong relationship building, influence, and communication skills
  • Success operating in ambiguous environments, with experience building frameworks, processes, and tools that enable analytically rigorous decision-making for commercial partnerships and strategic planning
  • Experience with commercial negotiations, specifically advising on deal structuring and commercial terms
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage a geographically distributed, high-performing team. Prior people management experience (of direct reports) is required
  • Excellent foundation in financial modeling (e.g., Excel) and data analysis (e.g., SQL)

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
