WHO IS RATEHUB?

We’re a company on a mission - We are a unique Canadian Fintech that is the one stop shop for all financial needs of the consumer - Save, Spend, Borrow, Invest, and Protect. Every single team member, from product & engineering to sales & marketing, finance, operations, and everything in between is obsessed with one thing;  helping Canadians make better financial choices. And we’re pretty great at it, too. Via our digital application technology and our award-winning in-house brokerages, we help over 2M Canadians per month make a positive impact on their finances. We have many unique businesses - a mortgage brokerage, a life insurance brokerage, a home and auto insurance brokerage, a mortgage originations and servicing business, a Financial Services Marketplace and a content business across Ratehub and MoneySense. 365 days a year we deliver our users the best online mortgage experience, personalized Credit Card and Loans options, and cheaper life, auto & home insurance policies than they typically get from their existing financial adviser.

Changing how people make financial choices isn’t easy, though. We know that achieving our mission is full of challenges; challenges that can be complex and often unexpected, but that are always interesting, rewarding, and fun to solve as a team. This is where you come in. We are on the hunt for the right kind of people to join us and help lead us forward to continued growth.

This is not a traditional Finance Manager role. We are looking for someone who wants to be the CFO of a business — owning the full financial and operational picture of one of Ratehub’s business verticals - Mortgages. You will report to the VP, Finance & Operations (interim reporting directly to the CEO) and work side by side with the Business Unit Leader, serving as their strategic finance partner across every dimension of the business: pricing, marketing ROI, accounting, planning, and performance reporting.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting & Controls
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process end-to-end, including review of journal entries and accruals.
  • Maintain and enforce the close calendar; coordinate deliverables across internal teams to meet deadlines
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations monthly; ensure all accounts are substantiated and variances explained
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS, including notes and supporting schedules
  • Liaise with external auditors during year-end audit
  • Document accounting policies and procedures; ensure team adherence and consistency across reporting periods
  • Support external and internal audits by maintaining audit-ready documentation and clear working paper trails
Process Transformation & Automation
  • Identify and implement tools and workflows that drive efficiency in revenue recognition, month-end close, and KPI reporting
  • Build systems and processes that reduce manual effort and increase accuracy and speed across the finance function
  • Leverage Salesforce and other platforms to connect operational and financial data for more effective reporting and analysis

Strategy & Business Partnership

  • Serve as the embedded finance leader for the Mortgage Business Unit, partnering daily with the Business Unit Leader on operational and strategic decisions
  • Own the financial narrative for the BU — translating numbers into insights that drive action across pricing, marketing, and growth initiatives
  • Prepare monthly BU performance reporting for the CEO, Board, and Investors
  • Contribute to quarterly board decks and investor updates with clear, compelling financial storytelling
Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Own the annual budget and quarterly forecast processes for the Mortgage BU
  • Build and maintain dynamic financial models that support scenario planning and executive decision-making
  • Lead pricing analysis and modeling for the BU, including rate competitiveness, margin optimization, and industry specific economics
  • Track performance against BU targets, flagging risks and opportunities for optimization
Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of financial analysts
  • Build a high-performance finance function within the Mortgage BU that scales with the business
  • Model the right culture — hands-on when needed, strategic when it counts

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of overall finance and accounting experience required, with time already spent as a manager within a Finance/Accounting function
  • Financial operational experience within industry required with demonstrated experience building and refining processes and systems. Mortgage industry experience a HUGE plus!
  • CPA designation strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a finance business partner to operational leaders, not just a reporting function
  • Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear executive-level narratives
  • Hands-on experience working with Salesforce — understanding how to extract, interpret, and connect CRM data to financial reporting and revenue analysis
  • Excellent Google Sheets/Excel skills
  • The right attitude for a PE-backed, high-growth environment — you are comfortable with ambiguity, energized by pace, and willing to do the hard work yourself while building the team around you
  • You can zoom out to lead and zoom in to execute — switching between ground-level detail and big-picture strategy without losing altitude on either
  • Prior people leadership experience — you know how to develop analysts and build a team
