Job Responsibilities:
- Monitors new and revised legislation and ensures Dortec's compliance to legislated requirements.
- Establishes written safety standards, reviews and updates annually to secure compliance with all related legislative requirements and Dortec and Magna policies.
- Coordinates activities related to ISO 45001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 required Health and Safety procedures and is accountable for successful conformance on all periodic IATF 16949 and Magna Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) audits.
- Develops and provides leadership to, the ongoing maintenance, continuous improvement auditing and compliance to the ISO45001 standard and Dortec's Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Provides meaningful statistics and recommendations to management in a timely manner to ensure continued improvement of workplace health, safety, environmental and loss control.
- Implements ergonomic assessments and improvements, WSIB claims management and the return to work program, to ensure employees return to their pre-injury duties in a timely manner.
- Provides leadership and direction for occupation hygiene concerns, hazardous material management, ergonomics and environmental issues.
- Provides leadership to the Joint Health and Safety Committee, (e.g. hazard identification and accident prevention) and coordinates follow-up actions on the committee's recommendations.
- Coordinates the Health and Safety awareness and incentive program, ensuring monthly talks are done effectively.
- Prepare month-end reports and charts for monthly QOS reporting.
- Reviews all accident/incident investigation and monthly inspection reports and provides leadership in developing corrective action, auditing to ensure closure of required actions.
- Liaises with Engineering and Maintenance departments to ensure safety and ergonomic compliance on all new and existing equipment.
- Prepare Health, Safety and Environmental training needs analysis, development and presentations to ensure adequate safety awareness at all levels of the organization.
- Liaises with the HR team to ensure all job required safety training is complete and up to date.
- Conducts formal company EHS orientation as needed.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of all information obtained, written or verbal, within the Human Resources Department.
- Maintains a professional service-oriented manner within the company and supports the corporate image as per Human Resources departmental objectives and company policies.
- Follows and models safe working practices and promotes safety in the workplace.
- Performs special projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications and Skills:
- Completion of Bachelor's degree or community college diploma/certificate related to Human Resources Management and Health and Safety.
- 3 to less than 5 years of work-related experience.
- Minimum completion of a post-secondary or diploma in a related field, preferably in occupational Health and Safety and Management.
- 2 years directly related experience or 5 years related manufacturing experience
- C.R.S.P (Certified, Registered, Safety, Practitioner), preferred.
- Sound Knowledge of all relevant Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Proficient in office related computer applications (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Powerpoint etc)
