Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager who combines strong technical leadership with people management and delivery ownership. This role is responsible for leading multiple engineering PODs, ensuring scalable and secure solutions, and driving execution across complex retail enterprise platforms. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in fast-paced, client-facing environments while balancing technical depth, operational rigor, and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Provide technical leadership with strong architecture literacy, reviewing and guiding scalable, secure, and resilient solutions across complex retail enterprise ecosystems.
- Partner with Architects to validate system designs, integration patterns, and non-functional requirements including performance, security, and availability.
- Ensure engineering best practices are followed across design, development, testing, and deployment.
Team & Delivery Management
- Lead and coordinate multiple development PODs across domains such as Enterprise Services (OMS, Loyalty, Omnichannel), DevOps, SRE, Security, and Databases.
- Drive execution and delivery under T&M governance, ensuring predictable outcomes, quality standards, and delivery transparency.
- Manage cross-team dependencies, proactively identifying risks and mitigating impacts across distributed, high-availability systems.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a senior escalation point for client-facing issues, managing high-severity situations with structured corrective action plans and clear recovery timelines.
- Communicate effectively with business stakeholders and leadership, translating technical complexity into concise executive-level updates on status, risks, and remediation.
- Build trusted relationships with client counterparts through consistent delivery, accountability, and transparent communication.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee production stability in collaboration with DevOps and SRE teams, supporting incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote strong engineering discipline around CI/CD, security, observability, and operational readiness.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or Technical Manager in large enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of modern application architectures, distributed systems, and cloud-native platforms.
- Experience managing multiple teams or PODs in retail or similarly complex enterprise domains.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client escalations and delivery under T&M or similar commercial models.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical and delivery information to executive audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in retail enterprise systems such as OMS, Loyalty, Omnichannel platforms, or large-scale customer-facing systems.
- Exposure to DevOps, SRE, security, and data platforms in high-availability environments.
- Prior experience working with global, distributed teams.
