About the RoleWe’re hiring an Engineering Manager for Platform to lead Float’s Infrastructure and Developer Experience (DevEx) teams. This group is responsible for the reliability, scalability, and usability of Float’s engineering systems, ensuring teams can ship safely, efficiently, and with confidence as we scale deeper into financial services.
This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, reliability, and developer productivity. You’ll unify infrastructure and DevEx into a cohesive platform function, eliminate friction across engineering workflows, and raise the bar on uptime and operational maturity.
This is a hands-on leadership role, with an expected 50/50 split between technical contribution and people leadership.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlatform Leadership & StrategyLead and evolve a unified Platform organization spanning infrastructure, SRE practices, and developer experience.
Define the platform vision, roadmap, and success metrics in partnership with Engineering leadership.
Balance near-term reliability needs with long-term platform investments.
Own platform reliability, uptime, and operational health as Float scales into banking-grade systems.
Establish and mature SRE practices including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and postmortems.
Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code and automation across the stack.
Build internal tooling, workflows, and abstractions that reduce cognitive load and accelerate delivery.
Identify and remove friction across CI/CD, local development, deployment, and production workflows.
Act as a strong advocate for engineers by deeply understanding how teams build and ship software.
Contribute directly to infrastructure, automation, and platform code.
Review designs and PRs with a focus on reliability, scalability, and operability.
Partner closely with Product and Application Engineering on platform needs.
Coach and develop platform engineers across infra and DevEx disciplines.
Build strong operating rhythms, clarity, and accountability.
Foster a collaborative, pragmatic culture grounded in ownership and continuous improvement.
Experience leading infrastructure, platform, SRE, or DevEx teams.
Strong technical depth across cloud infrastructure (AWS), networking, and distributed systems.
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar).
Experience designing and operating highly reliable production systems.
Strong empathy for developer workflows and productivity challenges.
Ability to contribute code and guide technical direction.
Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration experience.
Experience operating in regulated, reliability-sensitive, or high-scale environments is preferred.
Enjoy building platforms that empower other engineers.
Care deeply about reliability, clarity, and operational excellence.
