Who are we looking for?

GHD is looking for an Engineering Graduate – Air & Noise to join our Waterloo office. The Air & Noise team supports clients with air quality, noise, vibration, occupational hygiene, climate change and environmental compliance matters. Our clients include industrial and commercial facilities, waste management facilities, land developers, municipalities and public agencies.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
•    Supporting air quality, noise and vibration assessments for industrial, commercial, infrastructure and land development projects.
•    Preparing Emission Summary and Dispersion Modelling Reports for Environmental Compliance Approval applications and Environmental Activity and Sector Registry registrations.
•    Completing air dispersion modelling using AERMOD, SCREEN3 and other atmospheric dispersion models.
•    Coordinating and completing field work for air and noise emission source inventories, sound and vibration measurements, and occupational hygiene surveys.
•    Conducting noise modelling using CadnaA, STAMSON, TNM or similar software.
•    Preparing Acoustic Assessment Reports, acoustic audits, technical memoranda, proposals and other project deliverables.
•    Assisting with the conceptual design of air emission controls and noise mitigation measures, including silencers, barriers, wall treatments and equipment controls.
•    Supporting greenhouse gas emission estimates, regulatory and voluntary verifications, and carbon reduction or climate change management initiatives.
•    Supporting occupational hygienists with field surveys for air contaminants, noise, indoor air quality and designated substances, including abatement oversight where required.
•    Preparing regulatory reporting, including National Pollutant Release Inventory and other applicable provincial or federal submissions.
•    Assisting senior staff with technical research, data review, quality checks and project coordination.
•    Collaborating with GHD’s broader Air & Noise team across North America.
 

What you will bring to the team:

•    Recent or upcoming graduate from a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Applied Science or Engineering, preferably Chemical, Environmental, Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
•    Previous co-op or relevant work experience is preferred but not required.
•    Ability to prepare proposals and technical reports in plain language that address client and agency requirements.
•    Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
•    Ability to complete work under tight deadlines when required.
•    Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
•    Willingness to travel and work on site, independently or as part of a team, to complete field work in support of GHD’s Environmental Compliance business.
•    No aversion to heights and the ability to work safely in high-noise environments.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage in technical discussions and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
•    Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook.
•    Previous field experience is considered an asset.
•    Lifecycle analysis experience is considered an asset.
•    Knowledge of applicable regulations and guidance, including Ontario Regulation 419/05, Ontario Regulation 347, MECP Guideline NPC-300 and greenhouse gas reporting programs, is considered an asset.
•    Eligible to become a future member of Professional Engineers Ontario.
•    Valid Ontario G driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
 

Salary: $67,500.
Salary Range is based on the preferred work location. If the selected candidate´s location differs, changes to the salary range may apply.
