Lead EMC qualification and certification activities for aerospace systems covering EMI, HIRF, LIRF, lightning and electrostatics. Perform analyses, define EMC scope, review designs and test procedures, witness testing worldwide, prepare compliance/certification reports, mentor junior staff, and engage with OEMs, suppliers, and regulators to ensure airworthiness compliance.

Responsibilities
- Execute complex engineering assignments related to EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatics including performing detailed analyses using similarity assessments, simulation, and/or analytical methods.
- Help drive the resolution of electromagnetic related issues to support EMC certification and sustaining activities to support production and in-service.
- Define scope of work and EMC effort for engineering projects, plan activities/milestones, highlight technical risks, and complete tasks according to priorities.
- Analyze new and/or modified system or structure designs to assess technical engineering impacts and propose EMC compliance approaches. Review associated engineering documentation such as test procedures, test reports and analysis reports. Verify compliance with certification regulations and recommend for approval.
- Provide guidance to junior team members and interns.
- Support creation and updating of technical requirements for EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatics.
- Represent the EMC team at multidisciplinary meetings. Engage with internal and external suppliers, partners, clients, and aircraft OEMs.
- Support improvements to Bombardier processes and best practices.
- Support and witness EMC tests in Canada, the United States, Europe or elsewhere as needed.
- Prepare/review aircraft level EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatic Discharge test procedures, oversee testing, and generate test reports.
- Prepare Certification Design Compliance Reports.
How to thrive in this role?
- You hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Sciences or Physics.
- You have eight (8) years minimum working experience with systems or structures EMC qualification/certification in the aerospace industry. Experience with fuel tank ignition prevention is an asset.
- You have in depth knowledge of relevant industry standards (RTCA/DO-160, SAE ARPs) and high-level familiarity with airworthiness (TCCA, FAA, EASA) Regulations and Advisory Materials pertaining to EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatics.
- You thrive working in a team, and can leverage the community for support from other disciplines, including airworthiness, manufacturing, and others to achieve common goals.
- You work autonomously to achieve the goals established for you, your team and your business division.
- You are regarded as a specialist in at least one aspect of EMC and have demonstrated a depth and breadth of knowledge and skill in other areas of EMC. You are recognized by your peers as a resource in the EMC field.
- You have experience participating in major project and design reviews and are able to identify technical, schedule and budget risks related to EMC.
- You possess excellent problem-solving skills and are capable of applying your expertise to reach creative solutions within a multi-disciplinary group.
- You possess good oral and written skills, can effectively communicate achievements and challenges to technical as well as non-technical management. French is an asset.
- You have preferably participated in a minimum of one (1) green civil aircraft development program.
- You possess good knowledge of the aviation business.
- Experience working with an aircraft OEM and/or aerospace supplier supporting EMC qualification, certification, and compliance activities is preferred.
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools is an asset.
- The position may support a hybrid work arrangement; however, collaboration with a predominantly onsite engineering team and periodic onsite presence may be required.
