SUMMARY 

The Electrical Systems Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, deployment and ongoing management of the Optimized Electrical Maintenance Plan. They will provide technical expertise to Maintenance team leaders prior to, during and subsequent to planned maintenance activities including major and or minor electrical shutdowns. The Electrical Systems Manager plans, schedules, implements, and manages all aspects of the electrical repairs but are not necessarily actively working on site themselves.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Subject Matter Expert

  • Oversees major electrical maintenance
  • Manages time and space calendars as required during major all electrical work
  • Oversees ongoing electrical maintenance
  • Analyzes complex documentation and reporting. Prepares, plans and schedules the recommended repairs or modifications to the electrical systems based on the review of the various studies, analysis and reports
  • Performs analysis on failure rates
  • Provides expertise in the tendering, procurement, assessment of bids for all electrical maintenance activities
  • Provides technical expertise in the revision of deliverable documentations, such as Single line drawings, analysis of infrared reports, analysis of vibration analysis, analysis of oil sample trends and analysis of electrical co-ordination studies
  • Occasionally works off peak hours as required ex: weekend shutdowns

Communication

  • Communicates effectively with internal and external stake holders of all levels
  • Participates actively in the implementation of energy reduction initiatives
  • Attends monthly MTL meetings
  • Works with team members and helps with the education and mentoring of the team
  • Participates in project user requirements and start up meetings that involve electrical components or modifications

Reporting

  • Documents activities related to building operations and maintenance, providing input to the Property Manager(s) with respect to building conditions; project planning, budget planning and forecasting
  • Collects and reviews data on corrective maintenance. Studies trends on repairs to uncover larger scale issues. Implements plans to correct issues 
  • Other tasks and duties as required

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • College diploma in the field of electricity or equivalent
  • More than 10 years of job related experience
  • Maintains current designation as licensed maintenance electrician in province of work
  • Extensive knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
  • Extensive knowledge of best practices as they pertain to electrical maintenance 
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, fire, building and elevating devices codes 
  • Experience managing people, contractors and small projects
  • Effective communication skills
  • Good reporting, documentation and analytical skills
  • Strong ability to prioritize and plan effectively 

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Canadian Red seal maintenance/construction or industrial electrician
  • Certified energy manager would be considered an asset 
  • Project Management Professional would be considered an asset
  • Electrical engineer or technologist would be considered an asset
  • Valid Driver’s License

This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $75,440 - $94,300 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
