Some of what you will do:

The Director, Product Management B2B will redefine the strategy, experience, and capabilities on our sites for Business customers while revolutionizing our platforms and site technology.  You’ll work closely with business stakeholders, our UX team and technology delivery teams to ideate and deliver on outstanding customer capabilities that will take our B2B experience to the next level.  This role will have a team of Product Managers and Developers to conceptualize and implement experiences and technologies that support the vision of our B2B site experience. This involves working every day with business and technical teams to develop a commercially viable product roadmap. 

 

This is a core leadership position within Staples.  With Digital being such a pivotal channel for B2B, you will lead the strategy development and delivery of core activities in both Go To Market as well as site capabilities and features.  You will work closely with your team to ideate best in class capabilities and experiences while evangelizing with stakeholders the ideal B2B roadmap on our site.  You are a leader, able to articulate your ideas to your team in digestible next steps, while keeping senior leadership engaged to support your ideas.   

 

This position interacts with other cross functional teams like Sales, Marketing, Project Management, Delivery. 

 

 

Specifically, You Will:

 

Leadership and B2B

  • Define and drive the B2B roadmap with the direct Digital team, as well as external stakeholders within the business.

  • Lead a team of Product Managers and Delivery teams to enhance, rebuild and launch new capabilities on Staples digital properties.

  • Partner closely with the B2B organization stakeholders, including Merchandising, Sales and Marketing, to understand their overall needs on the site.

  • Work closely with the Technology organization to roadmap and strategize the evolution of the platforms which underpin the online experiences for customers.

  • Delivery of procurement and sales requirements on large scale deals.

  • Establish and monitor target metrics measuring operational efficiency and customer experience. 

  • Act as a liaison between business and technical partners to identify complex data problems & solutions.

  • Manage communications with executive and peer level discussions with stakeholders.

 

Product Management

  • Oversee the management of daily business activities to ensure that business priorities and end user expectations are being met.

  • Leads teams to ensure projects are delivered on-time and on-budget

  • Manages cross-functional relationships, communication and negotiation.

  • Provides routine and transparent product updates to executive level stakeholders via formal presentations and written communication.

  • Stays informed of industry trends and best practices for current products to shape how to go about meeting business needs while performing research and providing recommendations for enhancements to current suite of products.

  • Identifies key needs, perform gap analysis, assess new product ideas / innovations, determine market opportunity and participate in prioritization of initiatives

  • Adapts well to change in direction and priority in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

 

Some of what you need:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent (MBA an asset).

  • Agile certification is an asset.

  • B2B digital experience, in a leadership role.

  • Experience with product road-mapping tools, open-source technologies, public/private cloud technologies and SQL proficiency. 

  • 7+ years’ experience in product management role, B2B.

  • 7+ years’ experience at an eCommerce company.

  • Prior direct/indirect people management experience. 

  • Experience with both Agile and Scrum from a Product Owner Perspective. 

 

 

Physical demands/working conditions:

  • Office environment – Hybrid, with 4 days onsite in Richmond Hill, subject to the hybrid policy. 

  • Travel required, 10% within Canada and USA.
