The Director, IT Sourcing leads Manulife's IT sourcing category and a team of professionals supporting multiple business segments and global functions. You will own the multi-year category strategy and oversee end-to-end sourcing and contracting across software, SaaS, cloud and technology services, from intake and strategy through negotiation, award and contract execution. Working closely with Technology leadership, segment stakeholders, Legal, Risk, Finance, Vendor Governance and Information Security, you will manage strategic, top-spend supplier relationships—including Salesforce, Adobe, Workday and ADP—and lead complex, medium- to large-value negotiations and renewals.

As a people leader, you will coach and develop the team, set portfolio priorities and strengthen its ability to deliver commercial value, manage risk and act with integrity. You will lead executive meetings and prepare presentations that support timely, informed decisions while delivering cost reduction, cost avoidance, risk mitigation and improved commercial terms. You will also strengthen governance and drive continuous improvement through benchmarking, analytics, AI-enabled tools and executive-ready insights.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop the IT sourcing team; manage goals, capacity, work allocation and quality, foster an inclusive culture, and partner with HR on hiring, onboarding and succession planning.
  • Own and execute the multi-year IT category strategy across enterprise software, SaaS, cloud and technology and professional services; refresh annually and align spend, demand and licence optimization opportunities with Manulife's Technology roadmap and enterprise priorities.
  • Lead complex, high-value sourcing events, negotiations and renewals with strategic IT vendors such as Salesforce and Adobe, using pricing baselines, benchmarking and deal options to guide sourcing approaches, supplier selection and enterprise agreements.
  • Manage executive-level strategic supplier relationships with Vendor Governance and Technology partners, establish regular business reviews and proactively plan renewals ahead of key contract expirations.
  • Advise senior Technology and business leaders, lead executive meetings and steering committees, and prepare decision materials outlining category strategy, deal status, value, risks and trade-offs to secure timely decisions.
  • Oversee end-to-end sourcing and contracting through Ivalua and Sirion, partnering with Legal, Risk, Finance and other SMEs to finalize terms and documentation while meeting architectural, procurement, authority, third-party risk and regulatory requirements and upholding ethical supplier treatment.
  • Define, track and report category and team metrics, including savings, cost avoidance, pipeline, cycle time, sourcing outcomes and stakeholder satisfaction; use dashboards, benchmarking and business intelligence to strengthen negotiations and prioritize opportunities.
  • Champion AI-enabled procurement and continuous improvement of sourcing processes, playbooks and templates; lead sourcing and negotiation of AI, machine learning and generative AI solutions, including appropriate contract terms and addenda with Legal, Risk and Technology.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive IT/software sourcing, procurement, vendor management and/or consulting experience, with accountability for complex negotiations and contracting; background in sourcing strategy, management consulting or equivalent internal consulting/PMO work.
  • Proven people leadership experience coaching, mentoring and developing sourcing or procurement professionals and managing team performance; ability to execute multi-year category strategies that deliver measurable financial and risk outcomes.
  • Strong sourcing experience with strategic enterprise software and SaaS vendors such as Salesforce and Adobe, including enterprise licensing, subscriptions and multi-year agreements; strong commercial, analytical and contract negotiation skills.
  • Executive presence and strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience leading executive meetings, influencing senior leaders in matrixed, multi-segment organizations and preparing decision materials; advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills, with Power BI or similar tools an asset.
  • Knowledge of intake-to-contract and contract lifecycle management tools such as Ivalua or Sirion; financial services or other regulated-industry experience and familiarity with third-party risk requirements; sound judgment and a strong commitment to integrity and ethical practices.
  • Experience sourcing and negotiating AI, machine learning and generative AI software, platforms, data and professional services, and leading AI tooling evaluations, contract addenda workflows and AI-assisted sourcing; a related post-secondary degree or equivalent experience, with SCMP, CPSM or a similar designation an asset.
